...Hornet's Sting by Derek Robinson, the second of his Royal Flying Corps trilogy.

Before that I read Men at Arms and Soul Music, both from Terry Pratchett.

There is another theory which states that this has already happened.

The Invisible Man
The Island of Doctor Moreau

By H.G. Wells

Both were great. About to start "The First Men on the Moon", also by Wells. Going to order "The Food of the Gods" (more Wells) when I'm done on the moon. Wells was a genius.

Also cruising "Walden" again. Always good to touch base with Henry.

I just got Star of Africa as a suggestion on Amazon last night. Was thinking of picking it up myself... any good?

IMHO, Star of Africa is decent. It focuses on Marseille's life as a combat pilot, and the wild things he did. There isn't much about his childhood or his upbringing. The account is mostly based on the author's interviews with pilots that fought with (e.g. Gustav Rodel, Werner Schroer, ...) and against (some of his commanding officers such as Steinhoff and Ihlefeld) Marseille.

This the Robert Mason Helo pilot memoir? I loved that book. Read it at least twice. My favorite of the genre. The sequel is interesting, also, but a bit darker.

He also wrote two Science Fiction books about a self-aware autonomous battle robot called "WEAPON" and "SOLO". WEAPON was made into a very bad movie called "SOLO" smile

Me too. At least twice, long ago.

Something very... human, about his story and the way he told it.

Yep, that's the one. Finished it and it's one of the best war memoirs I've ever read.

http://www.amazon.com/Way-Knife-Secret-A...ay+of+the+knife

Quote:

The most momentous change in American warfare over the past decade has taken place away from the battlefields of Afghanistan and Iraq, in the corners of the world where large armies can’t go. The Way of the Knife is the untold story of that shadow war: a campaign that has blurred the lines between soldiers and spies and lowered the bar for waging war across the globe. America has pursued its enemies with killer drones and special operations troops; trained privateers for assassination missions and used them to set up clandestine spying networks; and relied on mercurial dictators, untrustworthy foreign intelligence services, and proxy armies.

So far highly interesting book. Hair raining about what Gov says it's doing and what it's actually doing....

Just started to re-read/listen to Red Phoenix by Larry Bond. Given all the recent stuff with North Korea I felt like going back over it. The Kindle version was only $2.99 and the audiobook was only $1.99 after I bought the kindle book. So I have been listening to it at work and flipping through it when I am at home. I have read it 4-5 times before, but its been a really long time.

Currently I'm reading The Perfect Assassin by Lars Warden. Interesting thriller, sometimes a bit cliche. Still a good read.

I have too! Just like you, with all that's happening in NK, I wanted to read this Larry Bond classic again. I'm reading the original hardbound, but at $2.99, I'll have to pick up the Kindle version too.
