Cause of this. biggrin 99 percent sure now its going to work out. Started day after next DLC for GTOS was annonced. I may have it make its way into SABOW too.

OH DUH! Its an AH1 J International. Non TOW firing version. BAsicly twin engined sea cobra sold to Iran in the 70's.

Although looks the same as USMC's used until replaced by AH1 T and of course evolved into ah1 W/Z super cobras. biggrin

Ya last year I wanted to do either F5 or this. I picked f5 as its just such a neat little plane. Now I have excuse to do this. biggrin Jumped all over it.

Next plane will be p38 FOR SURE. Ok maybe A20 well one of the. But after longstop is complete. biggrin

Still need to texture my SU-2 as well. Got thrown on the back burner and forgotten. BY the release of mius I guess.

UGH and can not WAIT to have space in time to do US ww2 armor. biggrin That I will get a kick out of. AND unlike my good enough air craft which I make mid polygon count wise just good enough to pass the eye ball test, US armor will be made to the Milimeter right. Although I have by eye on a German halftrack aaa gun I really want to do. For that matter the US T28E1 CGMC also on my mind. That aaa halftrack was only a short run, but used threw whole war. Evolved into M15. But used vary successfully in north africa and italy.

Just fun little screen. My old F5....just stealing its to scale rocket pods. biggrin But really shows HOW small an F5 is. biggrin

Hmmmm Not really sure what correct loadout for Iran circa 1980 should even be? UGHl... Well I was planning 2 lau 10 4 roand zuni rocket pods and these big fat guys... But something tells me over loaded corba IRL circa this model sea cobra. More likly 2 lau 10 pods (zuni 127/130mm? rockets) and the 2 7 round Hydra 70mm rockets...........

Probably same as American circa 1980 I suppose.
That's who they bought the weapon system from and who trained them on its use and SOP doctrine.

Don't know if post Shah army still had the same quality specialist and pilots for use and employment(I suppose a lot of Shah army professionals fled the country when the Shah did)But my guess is same as USA only much lower quality and no access to spare parts and ammo resupply except black market and whatever stockpiles were still available..

Its all guess work.......Although educated guess work. Actually load out would be US Marines circa 72ish. By 80's the ah1J's had been upgraded to T or at least improved J models able to fire TOW's. I am guessing those that where not.....probably with Reserve units? Not a clue....

But from photos always seem to have 2 19 round 70mm pods. But text referances to some use of 127mm zuni. Certainly the zuni with heat warhead for anti tank gunship work? Well they ceratinly had the full arsenal of 70 era air deployed weapons..... Some of these ah1J's of theirs even mounted freaken maverick missles somehow! They actually used them against Iraq.

Anyhow.........just need to get the silly cockpit area with some basic details and well glass lol.

You forgot about this link: http://armstrade.sipri.org/armstrade/page/trade_register.php. Check missiles, US and Israeli. They had both TOWs and Mavericks.

Little bits of info:

Krabb israeli? Where that come from? ER IRAN? which also had all that. Going with the larger number of ah1j that where pure gunships makes sence to me. 1 not over powering air support.... No 2 cobras flying in firing 16 TOWs sort of thing. ANd 2, less headache with getting cobras to act more or less right in engine. IE.....they have to fly rocket runs as hind does. Tow needs to be fired at standoff ranges from hover to work correct. So picking the MUCH for numuerous gunship version ah1j makes sence on all levels. IF correct modeling of tow use where to be done in game. Well you WOULD REALLY need to do the correct AAA and G to A missles systems intented to counter this sort of thing. At mininium........ zsu23-4, sa7, maybe sa9? IN addtion too zu23-2. And of course then you would need to do the other side as well.... red eye anti aircraft missle, some sort of SP aaa gun system. No idea what Iran used in early days. Later they bought zsu23-4 as well. May have skipped sp aaa guns and gone with chaperell aa missle system for battle field defense. Do not know or really care. biggrin Why ah1J without TOWS. Best on all fronts for game.

Well weekend goal is to FINALLY get LOD1 complete, unwrap the model for textures and some sort of real basic destructable model done. Early issues with mesh slowed be down and took the fun out. biggrin
