Obviously not good news for the laid off employees but this could be good news for us gamers since it means that maybe some talented developers outside of Lucasarts will now have the opportunity to make games based on the SW universe. I guess we'll see. A new XWing/Tie Fighter space combat game would be nice.

I would love to have a new Tie Fighter game were I actually spend ALL of my time fighting rebels...no more pirates and rouge empire admirals...just blow up rebel scum.

My dream has always been a bridge level command of a star destroyer....someone PLEASE make this happen.

Dreams....

I thought they announced something similar around the time that the first TFU game came out. Ah well, memory is a slippery thing.

I just want to here:

VEERS
Yes, Lord FEETWET.

I've reached the
main power generator. The shield
will be down in moments. You may
start your landing.

Yeah, that could be absolutely great if the right developer is involved. I've been aching for a bridge level command space sim since Klingon Academy.

Oh, I missed Klingon Academy and wish I had not. I have heard good things about it.

Then why did you skip Bridge Commander?

...only needs three buttons to play, no joystick support, bizarre plotline, no Christopher Plumber...

I don't know about the others - but there were a lot of good reasons to be unkeen about that one.

I'll give you one great reason Bridge Cmdr was better than KA:
Never once in Bridge Cmdr did my starship accidentally ram another. Not once. I couldn't go ONE battle in KA without at least one collision. As for joystick, it's not a fighter, it's a several-hundred crew ship. You don't steer a carrier or battleship or even a destroyer with a stick. I never used a joystick in Dangerous Waters for my OH Perry, my 688, my Akula, not one naval vessel.
Oh, and BC didn't have Picard saying "open channel" every 45 seconds either. smile

I agree the actors, plot, and experience of KA was superior, but the actual combat was a lot worse.

Not that the above counts.

I found that systems management in Klingon Academy was much better and that the environments felt richer (each system was big, each jump was an adventure). But, yes - I agree - ramming sucked.
