Hey-up chaps,

I had no issues at all asigning axes to my G940 set-up for F4bms.

Now I've got a shiney new TM Warthog HOTAS (with G940 pedals) and suddenly I can't assign anything.

I go through all the motions in controller set-up but when I get into the flight, nix/nada/nothing doing. On returning to the set-up screen, all the axes are showing 'keyboard'.

I tried using the available TARGET profiles - not very keen on them for one, but I still had problems assigning axes and keeping them assigned. Following readme advice in the one at BMS forum, the axes it says to assign are not even available on the controllers list.

I would much rather do my own assigments like I did with my G940 - but why are they disappearing now?

Chars

if necessary I'll go back to the G940 for bms (in addition to my helicopter sims) - bit of a waste, though.

did you hit save and apply after setting upp controls on control page? When go into advanced and select flight controls, you assign everythng, when you come back out to the settings page , it should show the throttle , rudder and flight stick working, then make sure you hit "apply" button in lower right of screen

Why do people think flight sims are nerdy???

That's one issue. Another would be to check your joystick.cal and axismapping.dat files, make sure they are **NOT** read-only.

I would recommend using Morphine's profile for the Warthog. I don't know what your reasons are for not using a TARGET profile, but Morphine's is very easy to use. If you need any help, shoot me a PM.

Thanks for replies.

Yes of course I used the save & apply (as I said it all worked okay with the G940 I thought no-one would ask that).

I also said I used the one at bms (which is Morphines) and didn't like the assignments and it also did not show the axes it says it will in the read me. I don't need "easy". I didn't say I didn't use a TARGET profile - just that I didn't like the bms profiles I have tried.

Never mind - I'll sort it.

Did you load and run the profile in TARGET before starting up BMS?

The issue with "controls not staying assigned" may be because of the files I mentioned being read-only. Otherwise they should stay where you assigned them. Also, not sure if it applies to the G940 but with my WH/Cougar, if I start up the game with my controllers not connected, the game doesn't "see" the controllers and resets my axis and settings, messing everything up --- that is why I set the above files as read-only to prevent this from happening once I am happy with my axis assignments.

As for the assignments, I am guessing you are referring to the ones assigned to the switches at the base of the throttle? Easy enough to change them, just substitute the relevant callback on the appropriate line. Basically, it's easier to modify a profile to suit your needs rather than making one from scratch. And his idle-detent for the WH is brilliant!

Be aware that TARGET and non-TARGET uses of the controller result in entirely unique controller IDs as seen by the program. If you program the Warthog "bare" on the stock drivers and then start the software with a TARGET-enabled controller the software will consider it to be a new device.
