I don't get it confused . GRAVITEAM can do "hypothetical" for GTOS but not for SABoW? Sorry to call this one out but when some of us questioned andrey12345 awhile back about some new hypothetical campaigns for SABoW (because some of wanted to use the M60 in more then just ONE campaign) we were told GRAVITEAM does not do fantasy. So does this mean there is a change in this thinking and maybe SABoW might get a new campaign to use the M60 in? I'm sure hoping it might be so since everything that is in this new DLC looks to be already in SABoW except the actual campaign and map and a few odds and ends.
cheers

I don't think Graviteam has any future plans for SABOW.

From what I understand, the game didn't make a profit so they are channeling all their resources into the tactical games only and not making any more content for the tank sims.

This DLC is based on a story, with small assumption that Iran has openly intervened in the combat in Afganistan, not hidden as it was in reality. Not fantasy like WW3 in Western Europe or somthing like this.

For SABOW, publisher does not go on cooperation and communication, so while nothing definite I can't say.

What about a namechange for SABOW and have your own online-shop.
It is a shame the way it is right now, would love to buy some SABOW DLC frown

Andrey I have to respectfully disagree. If the new DLC is only based on a story of possibilities and then builds upon an assumption (even in the smallest degree) still makes it hypothetical since what is depicted in the DLC did not happen in any history book I have ever seen. Now if you want to break it down into varying degrees of hypothetical then okay this DLC is more plausible then WW3 in Western Europe. Guess it just best to agree to disagree wink

Sad news for SABoW frown Was really hoping that GRAVITEAM would offer an alternative/companion to SB Pro in the armor genre but that's looking pretty bleak now frown .

Alas poor sabow. By last patch was quite good. Just needed more content. I think waiting for more sabow is unlikely unless made for FREE by someone. Even given tools that unlikly once you realise HOW much is needed to be none to do such. As sabow is owned not by Graviteam it means making new sim. I VOTE for ww2 US equipment LOL. 41-43 biggrin Now anyone have money to fund....lol SAbow meets ww2.....just gotta happen sometime..... Almost a give given SO many assets could be used from GTOS. Just the time to do tanks and stuff. Which is STILL a hell of alot. But base game and I mean BASE.....just some basic frame work and a DLC set up for future stuff if succesful. UNDER GRAVITEAM control........... and grqavi listens to good ole flash pants here. muahahah

OK even if increased in cost by 50 to 100 percent over what SABOW was sold for I would buy.... BUT NOT as much as steel beasts... that is TOO high IMO for many to pull trigger on. But I don't know....49.99 sounds optimal for my wallet if it meant more tank goodness. A niche product sometimes is worth the extra bucks if good of course. biggrin hell take exra 10 buck part and fund multiplayer biggrin Even could do such as that with GTOS....make delux version....add something little extra and explain that is to fund new feature... I can not think some would not buy just for that.

It all makes more sense if you realise they're stripping existing content from SABOW - Soviet and Iranian equipment and units are already done, ready to use.

That's not the case for NATO and Warsaw Pact units, that'd need extra time and expense...

I do not want to upset you, but in early 1979, Iranian militants staged an armed rebellion in the province of Herat, on their side of the 17 Infantry Division crossed from the government forces with heavy weapons. To suppress the rebellion only by using air support and armored vehicles. By the summer of 1979 the central government of Afghanistan control whether only five provinces, the rest were in the hands of the rebels.
It was one of the reasons why the Soviet Union sent troops into Afghanistan - much already there raged rebels.

Do not write about it in the books, because it was marked and the U.S. support for the islamic rebels.

Because it is based on real events. A WWIII in Europe is pure unscientific fantasy biggrin

And come up with some sort of stories about why they suddenly began to fight without using nuclear weapons - we are not ready yet so deeply into fantasy smile
Only one small step.

Hi Andrey,
you are right I don't have much knowledge in such things. But would be a future release (Graviteam Simulations :)) possible by selling the game on its own with a online shop for example?

No, we not have rights to sell and for game as whole.

After the appearance of the nuclear weapons and their means of delivery for USSR and the U.S., the WWIII was just as unreal as the war with the Martians. But the war with the Martians do easier in every way. Ie if we ever do a fantasy, it is primarily about the Martians lightsabers

Yet,both NATO and the Warsaw Pact Alliance spent billions of dollars in tactical training maneuvers over the course of the cold war era in anticipation of the very same conflict you consider fantasy.I guess the money would have been better spent constructing fall out shelters and underground bomb proofs and training films on how to live in a nuclear wasteland.

I suspect the real reason for not wanting to make a DLC about a NATO vs Warsaw Pact battle is expense.
The area where this conflict would take place is very populated and built up,so making a campaign map with all the different buildings and levels of destruction would be time consuming and expensive not to mention the whole battle most likely would be dominated by air and artillery assets not really much fun from a tactical stand point.

Ok going off a deep end.... War and fear of war have been used as power bases for policical reasons since the dawn of time. The issue has ALLWAYS been that sometimes daft retards beleave their propaganda. Nuclear weapons kept policical tards in check.. While BOTH sides used fear of other side for policical power. It was in neither sides best interest to EVER go at it. Even in conventional war. But throw nukes in....just bad. Apart from aggressive warfare to gain territory most modern wars are pretty stupid political affairs. Taking over a country is NOTHING but problems and -cash flow now a days. Often forgotten by despotes and political lackies.

ON east west war..... So many other affairs of regional conflicts and proxy wars..... However, even if you say analogy using 3rd world countrys...STILL people want NATO VS Warsaw pact. Only thing different is paint scheme of uniforms... Iran is perfect proxie of nato in 70s - 80's.. SO MUCH western up to date gear bought by SHAH of Iran in 70's. It really does represent NATO gear vary well. Why I did so much stuff for IRAN back when. Not cause I loved em......but their gear was totally NATO-tastic. And Iraq was totally warsaw tastic...... My guess why fictional war with Iran VS USSR may have to do with marketing.. Both in east and west. nEITHER Iran OR Iraq are exactly popular country's in west. LOL . USSR and Iran have had minor border issues in past....... OK USSR blowing up Iran stuff when goes over border. Bad policy BTW... Blow anything that strys in airspace. Heaven help you if its an airliner....oh OOPS. that happened. Vary bad PR.

I have an idea for a modern campaign battle that wasn't fantasy and included both NATO and Warsaw Pact type weapons systems that took place in 1979.

The Sino-Vietnamese War 1979.

The Vietnamese had captured plenty of American weapons from the South Vietnamese in 1975 and were also armed with Warsaw Pact weapons in defense of their country from invasion by the Chinese.

I think that would make for an interesting non-fantasy modern cold war era DLC.
