A quick google search came up with this article on rooting a Blackberry Playbook to an Android OS and the Android marketplace:

Since I've seen the 16 Gb version of the playbook on sale for $139 today....it's got me wondering if this may not be a good option for in home use (Wi-Fi only needed) for entertainment or a 2nd display type screen for Il-2 Sturmovik flight sim controls...or even a race-sim controls display.

The playbook's not bad, used it when I worked there. And yes, you can side-load android apps.

Thanks for the reply, piper. I've been nearly techno free over the weekend and actually played outside.

I used the mad-money I was thinking for a playbook and bought a simraceway srw-s1 wheel. Time will tell me if this other impulse buy was a better choice.
