So I was finally able to sit down and watch this all the way through this past weekend almost 40 years after it's release. I thought it not so bad an effort by Stanley Kubrick.

O'Neal was on keel as well. A good lesson on what happens when one squanders their good fortune.

(Marisa Berenson was hot back in the day too.. yep )

Although it was a slow moving movie, I really liked it. Interesting character study. Some good music in it.

Good people sleep peaceably in their beds at night only because rough men stand ready to do violence on their behalf.

Someday your life will flash in front of your eyes. Make sure it is worth watching.

At 3 hours long, it might seem slow moving I suppose. I enjoyed the dry, somewhat sarcastic tone of the narration - and yes the music was a nice touch. smile2

I saw that movie back when the Earth was flat. Time to see it again I guess.

Question everything!

Yes, exactly. I loved it.

And don't forget: candlelit scenes thanks to some crazy NASA moon landing camera lenses. 50mm f/.07

So I read.

There's something about high quality movies that were made in the seventies that intrigues me on occasion. I simply can't get the same vibe from anything else made thereafter. The Godfather is another I can watch over and over..

Barry Lyndon is fantastic. IMHO a very underrated Kubrick film. Not too many films made that took place during the War of the Austrian Succession.

I've been an avid Kubrick fan all of my life. I even like his films that are considered to be weaker by critics such as "Eyes Wide Shut". On another note, I've always been fascinated by the 18th century. The military history of that period, the music, the philosophy, the famous individuals, etc.

The use of which was discussed in an interesting documentary called "Dark Side of The Moon". smile

Interesting. So that's why Kubrik had knowledge of those lenses. Thanks. I might watch that.
