Worth getting? Never have played the games.

These United States of America
I bought it because I enjoyed MGS2 Songs of Liberty on the PS2 as well as Snake Eater. I really liked the setting of Snake Eater as its set in the cold war 60s. And it has a camoflage system and rpg elements in as far as treating your own wounds and finding critters to eat.

What's great about this collection is that its HD and as far as Snake Eater, its the updated version of Snake Eater with the fixed camera system. The original PS2 version I played had the left over camera system from MGS2 which took place inside a ship and it did not lend itself well to the new environment. It was actually very difficult to play at times because of the akward camera. This collection has the fixed camera version and its a totally free camera now.

I also bought it for Peace Walker which was originally just for the handheld system but I have not started it yet. I may play Sons of Liberty again someday.

I'm still working on MGS4. This one is also very good and just improves upon its predeccessors. I think its 20 bucks for PS3 classics and I'd say pick that one up too. The octo came is just awesome.

Have you ever played any MG Solid games like the original? They are very good stealth action games with a great production value and cinematic presentation. It has good writing and dialogue however the stories do get bizarre and convoluted and to be honest, though I've played them for years, I really don't know what the heck is going on. Sometimes the cutscenes can get very long but if you like games with stories to tell there's no problem with that.

I think they have it down to thirty bucks now so for 3 games in HD and the content included I'd say its worth it especially for anyone who has enjoyed MGS in the past.

So between the collection and MGS4, you could get 4 games for the price of 1.

Though on a whole I love the MGS games, my only gripe is that they are filled with boss battles. Now that's just my taste but I have always detested boss battles in games. But they have always been apart of MGS games from the beginning. But its not enough of a detterent to stay away from a great franchise of games.

I'm really excited about the next MGS. It looks outstanding. It looks to be an even more fleshed out rpg-type experience in a more open world which has never been done on that scale before in a MGS game.

I bought it, on 360 if that matters. Graphically, it's still just going too far back to enjoy, unless you're an old fan wanting to play it again. The game controls, and simply the gameplay were horrible. I can see how the games would have been great 10 years ago, but for today were simply horrible. Sold mine off on amazon almost immediately.

IMO: it's for nostalgic old MGS fans only.

Love MGS! I was a nintendo system guy so my first taste was the redo of the first game on Gamecube called MGS:The Twin Snakes. I was hooked and loved it. I wished for so long that I could play the other games in the series but I didn't have a ps2. Once I picked up ps3 I rented MGS 2 and 3 on gamefly and played them. 1 and 3 were probably my favorites, and 4 on ps3 was great too.

The storyline is CRAZY, but very good if you play all the games. It all makes sense. MGS4 ties everything together nicely. I still need to play Peacewalker...was there another PSP MGS game too? I want to make sure I play all of them.

OK. Sounds like one I might not like. RK's taste pretty much runs parallel with mine.

I'll find something else.
