Every time there is a large update, my download speed just absolutely sucks! It will hit .7 MB.sec. Then will dip to 150 KB or less and sometimes just go to 0 KB/sec. It just give up. And it seems everyone is raising hell about the 1.29 update anyway, so I guess I'm not missing much.

Took about two hours for me last night.

Well, I've checked the downloads speeds using testers and it ain't me. But, looks like disappointment is what awaits so #%&*$# it.

Whatever, I am having fun.

If you haven't already go into Launcher and limit your upload speed (new option). May be that your upstream is saturated and it's choking your download. I set my 'up' to 100KB/s and I get 1MB/s down and rarely see it drop below 600KB/s.

1.29 is a huge update and there are quite a few complaints. A lot of it comes from Arcader's who can't handle the more realistic FM/DM/ballistics (my plane is sluggish, it loses energy, my bombs are no longer mini-nuclear weapons blah!) and in equal measure there are complaints about the economy.

For the most part I love the update and appreciate them switching off those annoying messages in FRB. Love that you can choose to have rounds with or without tracers for stealth (costs lions though) and there is a selection of round types for aircraft that allow it (again, costs lions).

Wish they'd switch off the digital HUD readout.

Most of the time I turn it off - the HUD. I don't like it and that whitish circle that is every where you look. I just flip it on when I want to see just to make sure if some other plane is friend or foe.

I have a key mapped for this but some things I want to keep and the HUD off option just switches off everything. I don't need trim info as I can see the results directly in flight but other things like prop pitch and mixture (when I use them) I need to see. Also, although I don't like the friendly icons, switching them off gives you a slight disadvantage against the enemy as friend or foe can be identified within the 700m friendly icons range (lack of icon denotes enemy). Potentially, you can be identified before you can identify others.

CEM is on auto by default even in FRB. You have to map a button to switch between manual and auto engine management. Only then can you use prop pitch, mixture, radiator, magneto, supercharger, feathered prop etc. You get small blue text bottom left telling you how they are set. This I think is necessary for certain items that don't give feedback via the instrument panel. All other clutter I'd like to see gone from the screen in FRB.

3weeks 5days 20hours left to go according to my download

I finally got the thing downloaded. I was getting messages like you BD-123, and it did take several sessions to download. But, after checking things out, I really don't know what all the complaining is about on WT forums. Maybe they fixed things before I got it downloaded.

I went looking all over for some button labeled CEM or even Complex Engine Management. No luck. So I took the shot gun approach and found that under CONTROLS under heading ENGINE CONTROL there is a setting right under that heading named 'Engine Control Mode'. That did the trick.
