I recently got a 120GB Vertex 3 SSD from OCZ. They sent me one after my Vertex 2 that I had installed in my Alienware M11x ceased functioning. Instead of sticking it back in the laptop, I decided to give it a whirl on my nearly 5-year old desktop. I installed W7 Ultimate X64, got it all updated (which goes pretty fast with the quick reboot times with the SSD), installed all my drivers, and then DCS World. It is definitely worth it for people that do a lot of mission editing and loading/exiting from missions or the editor. The missions load in a fraction of the time. Granted, with 120GB and W7 and some other utilities already eating up 40 or 50GB, I don't have much room to add stuff to the SSD, but my gaming is limited to just a handful of stuff anyway (DCS, FSX, X-Plane). I have 2x 2TB drives for data and stuff. Anyway - if you haven't checked one out - an SSD is a pretty good performance upgrade for DCS World (as far as zipping through the GUI screens..don't know that it really affects game performance).. Been waiting for the price to come down a little bit myself, but this is definitely on the list. I think I'm going to do one 250GB and convert my current 1TB to storage again. That way I have a little head room for games.

I just added a scond SSD (see my sig) a Vertex 4 128GB just for game files. I Use the 90GB SSD as my boot drive.
Right now they are about $1.00 per GB. I would have bought a 256GB but didn't want to spend $250.00 on it.

I currently own 8 SSDs from 60 to 256GB between 3 machines. I don't keep anything but data files on mechanical drives anymore.

I just got a Samsung 840 model 250Gb SSD installed as my C drive yesterday. I love it. Best upgrade I ever did. Paid 170 bucks for it at Fry's. I bought the Samsung 840 Pro Series 256Gb model mid January bump as part of a new computer build (my first ever and I did it all meself! Hehe. Usually just buy them pre built but decided to have a go)......I think its great too. I use it as boot drive and it is incredible how quickly the system starts up and the OS is usable, a matter of seconds. Cuts down stutters too definitely in DCS, much smoother. Load times are much faster in ROF too. I held off buying one for ages for the reasons described by other posters....Didn't consider them to be good value at the time. More reasonable price-space ratio now, and I only have a few of the more demanding apps-games on it. Most are still on my 1TB WD Caviar Black. However, just updated that 'Samsung Magician' program to v 4.0 and the new firmware (DXM04B0Q), and while my MB was booting in AHCI mode previously by default, the program is now saying it is not enabled, despite the fact it definitely is in my BIOS (its a Sabretooth Z77). Still runs ok, but it should run better in AHCI mode, and I don't know why its not detecting that it is enabled? Any ideas? I might try a BIOS flash with that 'EZ flash' program thing, but I'm always wary of them if nothings going wrong otherwise I don't see the point in the risk. BIOS flashes at least used to be slightly risky if you balls something up, maybe I'm being too wary. Good kit though, still new to them and learning. Only thing I knew before buying is that you definitely don't ever defrag them, though diskcleanup is ok. Cheers.
