Interesting DLC... modern... maybe is not the best conflict but at least has T-55 hehehe.

I dont understand why they dont create 2 series on their games, 1 for WW2 (and pre WW2) and other for modern conflicts, i find more interesting in modern something like hypotetical WW3 in Europe, Middle east wars, Vietnam in 1972-75, Gulf war in 90...

I look for this, is more interesting than the last DLC popcorn

PD: other thing is why Graviteam doesnt convert the "Steel Armor Blaze of war" battle sets to be used in APOS, i allways want try SABOW but i dont look for a simulator.

Operation Hooper IS an asset from SABOW. Just as a couple of next DLC(s), I guess... But don't expect something hypothetical, Graviteam prefers more realistic conflicts. smile

Yes, you are right, thanks, i dont remember the Angola conflict, only remember the Iran-Irak war and Afganistan.

Well, hypotetical... out are a lot of interesting conflicts... apart the well know i can add Pakistan VS India specially the "Battle of Asal Uttar" that is perfect to the game scale.

One thing i want see is expanded the options in fast battle mode, more formations to select specially company level units in armor.

PD: the good point with hypotetical in this game is that can adapt the scen to the game as they want.

The polygons (maps) and campaigns are totally new as I understand it. So to say it is SABOW is misplaced IMO. Sure the gear is updated same things. Ratels look like they got some love.

I really do hope a new unit or 2 makes it in besides what was in sabow.

Indeed los to be interesting read. This is where HISTORY guy in me gets confused. ALL sort of folks want the war that never was. But sticks there noses up on all the proxy wars that occured. Western equipment and gear VS eastern equipment and gear.

Funny how the authors calls the South African Afrikaners " Boers " which means peasants( boors in Old English).....

Most likely as they feel no connection to them what so ever. African bush wars are well down on my list of military history interest. Infact it's zero. No interest in their politics..no interest in the people.

Though I had the same feeling about CMSF but enjoyed it when I eventually bought it..however I never bother with red on red scenarios.

it's the armed forces involved and their history I find more important for me and immersion purposes over the weapons involved.

Someone went back and modded the Theatre of War series. They're not as bad now, but they are certainly still annoying. I personally can't stand most strategy-only games. I think the very premise that the CO (player) not only KNOWS what's going on, but can get a bird's eye view of the battle zone completely undermines the realism idea. It would be better in my opinion if the player were stuck to a Command APC/Tank/foxhole. and forced to use a map that could only relay the last radio position would be best. No more of this RTS map smile2

But hey, that's just me screwy

You can,no one is forcing the player to use birds eye view.

Lock the camera on the commander and only move your units on the 2D map not the 3D map.
I've done this a few times, sometimes it gets boring though because you hear the action and get the reports of enemy contact and after about 15 minutes of this you can't stop yourself from taking the camera and seeing whats going on.

It sounds good from a realistic stand point, but from a game perspective it gets boring especially if the commander isn't seeing any action himself. Not being able to lift the camera as an option and look around the whole battlefield is what I think killed SABOW.

I personally like to give the orders every 10-15 minutes and sit back from a birds eye view and watch all the action unfold than zoom into where the major fire fights are taking place.

Luckily there is an option in this game where the player can choose which ever way He wants to enjoy the game according to his own personal preference.

Pure realism doesn't always equate to fun and entertainment.

Whuikid..sounds great on paper..and I have a game design idea that does this..BUT it would be totally different type of game we have seen cos if you do that with a game like GTOS it wouldn't be fun at all.

My idea is about commander maps with unit counters..and all about intel collection and orders. No RTS..no fancy graphics..lots of text...

Whukid that idea is what alot of my custom campaigns where about in the sabow stuff I did. Of course you had be in a tank =(. The reality is that MOST people being in a battle while commanding the battle is beyond there ability. It means unfun for them. Few want such a thing. It is infact a real time platoon/company commander/senior NCO combat simulator. Certainly appeal who want to do such things. This is a HARD job.... You have to fight the battle from your vehicle, while commanding your guys knowing ONLY what is put out onto the radio net and whatever intel you got a your briefing. I WANT such a thing, but I know it is a niche within a niche. Most it seems what either a SIM or tactical GOD simulator. Few really want both in one....or if they got would do only do one or the other. Why people got ROLLED badly in Cresenct moon campaign. If you only went around in your tank.......... You and your forces where screwed. If you fought as a dang company commander and used the assets smart while remember such basic things as defense in depth and to freaken manuver. You could win it. If not..........rolled over and killed.

We will not mix one with the other. A mixture of different approaches a negative impact on the gameplay. Tanksim (if it will be) - still move to the anchor player to vehicle and micro-manage vehicle, tactics to the indirect control and camera in the sky.
They have only common is the base simulation and AI.
