As I got a bit older, I wanted a Team Associated RC10. These were incredibly expensive hobby items back then (and still are today). The box art said all that was needed regarding the ultimate cool factor inside the box:

I wanted this as a teen. I saved my money until I could afford one. By the time I did I crashed my first R/C aircraft that I built by hand.
OUCH! With that bit of information tucked within my recent memory, I examined the Tamiya Porsche with a more critical eye and determined the body to be way too fragile for any real R/C driving and I decided not to buy it. The video even explains ow fragile the body is.

Still I remember going to the hobby shoppe on a weekly basis dreaming for the day I could take her home. The clerk must have been sick of me coming in to gawk. Watching the video flooded the memory. Man, that green 934 is a beaut. Loved the box art too. sigh.

I had a lot of the Transformers, too. Optimus was the only "car" Autobot I had, though. I had one of the Decepticon jets, Soundwave, a couple of his tapes like Ravage, two of the Dinobots...a real hodge-podge.

Yes, Tamiya. How I lusted for so many of their products. The Blackfoot, the Lunchbox, the Sand Scorcher. Then I got a 1992 Kyosho catalog, a big one that covered every product in their line. I still have it, and it's just as much fun now to look at as then.

But I never did buy an R/C kit. Closest I got was a built-up BoLink 1/12 onroad with electronics and radio, found for $10 at a garage sale. Problem was none of the electronics were wired up, and the batteries were dead. It was all new to me, and Dad had no idea what the components were or how to configure them. He took it to a local R/C shop and paid nearly $70 for them to wire it and add a new battery and charger. It was fast and lightning on a concrete parking lot. But one day in the house while setting it up it ran across the floor and hit a wall, breaking a steering arm. No, I didn't have it propped up off the floor (live and learn).

Tamiya box art stuck with me, the fact that they were such detailed illustrations and not photos. I carried this forward when I got into graphic arts myself, and drew some in that style. The car based on the RC10, and the bike inspired by Tamiya's YZR500 with straight run rider kit (which I built).

Ah Cheryl Ladd...I had that poster too old grognard. Right next to Farrah and the Dallas Cowboy Cheerleadeers.

I always wanted the Six Million Dollar Man action figure, and never got it. I got the GI Joe Atomic Man instead. I was grateful, but always felt cheated somewhat. I have actually considered buying one on Ebay just to check it off my Bucket List.

Funny thing...at Disneyland a couple of years ago, Lee Majors was actually standing in line behind me and I got to share that story with him. I suppose meeting Steve Austin himself beats a plastic doll any day.

I had loads of star wars, had most of the vehicles and just about every figure. I even had yak face which is worth a mint now but don't get me started on that one, had plenty of transformers too and infact I brought the re-editions of optimus prime and sound wave a few years back lol. But the toy I always wanted was the thundercats cats lair, although I did have the thunder tank and a few more vehicles to boot but it was too expensive for my mom.

Did the Lee Majors mention bring that up?? There's another one who ruined her career with too much partying. Or perhaps it wasn't even partying, but some other deep-seated problem.

The USS Flagg was the Holy Grail of Toys for me. Never got one, knew a kid that did and trashed it, the little jerk.

Chalk me up for wanting that one but never getting.
