So,, To those of you that have knowledge of this.

My Main Concern and reason for not having this on my PC yet is because of one thing and One Thing ONLY.

IS Sim mode Cockpit view Only ? I won't be playing this if,, when I fly in Multiplayer Sim Mode I have to play against people in 3rd Person View.

Reason is that Air Combat is Highly Based on Situational Awareness, and If you are Flying in Cockpit view and Having to play against people in 3rd person view,,, Well I Strongly feel that that makes it unbalenced.

This is the reason I Quit playing Birds of Steel on the Xbox.
I posted about this on the Gaijin forums to no Avail. People Said find a Custom room where its Cockpit view Only,,
But thats BS !
1. Those rooms were hard to find when I wanted to play
2. Its SIM MODE ! They Should have had to make A Custom room to play in Any view Mode !
3. Sim Mode Should be Just what it means,, and that Includes having to fly In Cockpit view ONLY.

SO,, Now that you have my BOS Complaint and My Main Concern with War Thunder, Can anyone tell me how it is Done in WT ???

Thanks for your time and Consideration,, Sincerely Desode

Desode!

Long time no see! I'm certainly not the best to answer this question as I'm 'not in love' with WT, at least not yet. I'm testing now and then but that's it, the economy idea behind this game ('the grind') and the forced timed gameplay are in my way of enjoying the game as a flight simulator.

They do have a cockpit only mode though, it's called 'Full Real Battles'. Last time I checked it was cockpit only, however they're showing you icons for your friendlies when close by, you also have a HUD with your main instrument readouts. You can switch your HUD off completely but that will only apply to yourself, unless you create a custom game. However these are not so populated, you're still flying for points and against the clock.

I'm for a more simulation oriented product.

Also keep in mind that this game is now in open beta, thus some improvements will be made in any ways.

It is not over yet as for so dynamics and flight models.

Finally, the only cockpit view in Full Real Battles is more natural with TrackIR as it could be annoying without TrackIR.

I can second that.
Although I would love to fly in FRB, but without TIR, I had no chance. I stick to Historical ones mainly.
This is the beauty of this sim, if I need arcade furball, I can have it, and when I need more serious stuff, I cna have it too.

I have enjoyed it a bit, just level 2 right now.

Arcade is just that... shoot!!

Historical battles do give you the immersion with outside views.

Simulator / FRB is what you want.. cockpit view only, when close to a friendly it will give you an icon. Enemies remain without Icons.

My Plusses:
+ Very good graphics, on a low-end laptop and on a high end gaming rig.
+ Immersive
+ Planes are easy to fly (sofar)
+ Very good weather modelling
+ Enemies are difficult to see

My Cons:
- Aircraft could be a bit more detailed
- Settings menu.. (how can I just assign trim inputs with keypresses.. gently..)

In the control settings, double click on the setting you wish to adjust, ie. Elevator Trim, then you can set the relative control sensitivity, relative control step etc. to your liking.

All true but with a small caveat. Cockpit view is more like you can stick your head trough the glass of the cockpit just enough to get more of a view behind and in front. Think of sliding the glass back and sticking your head out just a little.

And by the way, 3rd person view or not, you still have to bother to look around often. You will find that most persons that like 3rd person view don't look around near as much as they should.
