I loved the Marx/Revell army men. I'd build wood and rock forts, trenches and throw dirt clogs at each side. If they landed on their backs they were "wounded" and could be returned to battle after a number of volleys. If they landed on their face they were killed. The 1/48 figures were for outside. The 1/72 figures were for inside on rainy days. I used little balls of tinfoil for ammo then. I still have the 1/72 figures. I've showed them to the kids...they don't seem to compete so well with computers anymore...
The road less traveled is filled with fewer needy people.

Vertbird - Coast Guard "Remote Control" Rescue Helicopter set: The ship was made from foam...and it received frequent attacks from the terrible Army of the Lawn Darts...eventually suffering its demise in the Battle of New Year's Day, with a direct hit from a Cherry Bomb. Lasted 4 years though.
HAHAHAH! We must be Brothers from another Mother. I had all those. Loved making Evel eat it on the motorcycle. And the Coast Guard ship... hours of fun! Lawn Darts, Cherry Bombs... Check!

In my defense, I was left unsupervised...

I had a lot of toys but I liked my Lego and plastic army men the best.
I had medieval soldiers, cowboys and indians, as well as WW1 to current plastic army men. I had so many small scale army men alone that it would take my friends and I two or three days to set them up!

Probably the Starwars AT-AT. When I went to a friend's house and saw that thing for the first time my mind was blown.
Call me simple but we had a 4x6 sheet of plywood with a hole drilled in it for ice fishing that my brother and I propped up against a tree as our "catcher". We painted a strike zone on it and created our very own 1 on 1 backyard baseball game using a tennis ball and plastic bat. We would play from when we were probably in middle school all the way up until college. Some of the most heated games and fun I ever had.
The G.I. Joes from the 80s/90s. Still the best toy ever made. I'm 29 and dare not dig up the few I have left, I will play with them again.
Agreed... I had about 80 of them.
I used to play with them in my backyard "jungle" and blow them up with fireworks. I used to perform Combat Rescue on them with Gauze, white medical tape, and Robitussen and Mercurochrome for blood. I had a couple of Aunts that were RN's.
I had a lot of fun with them.

Several kilos of Lego. Especially when in the early 80s Technical Lego became available.
There is a theory which states that if ever anyone discovers exactly what the universe is for it will instantly disappear and be replaced by something even more inexplicable. There is another theory which states that this has already happened.

Ditto... except for the attache case.
Still recall the first GI Joe I had in 68 or 69. Marine Corps service version I believe.
Speaking of the GI Joe phenom.. There was somewhat of a shift on popular culture around 73 or 74 when they went from military figures to Kung Fu grip and adventure rather than war. No doubt influenced by the direction of the Vietnam War.
It's a Game.
