No way 30.xx drivers will work with a 7800GTX. They're ancient and the card is brand new.
Presumably a 7800GTX will give you banding issues similar to the 6x00 cards. That problem is being fixed, although we may not have a 100% working release right away. so, you should expect any problems to go away entirely eventually, but you may have to deal with some right now.
If I remember right, the best drivers are the 30.** drivers. Other than that, I think you should be fine buddy.
