I found it useful enough. It might not be the most realistic way but it works for me.

I barely play SF2 so maybe there is a better way to know who is friendly or Foe?.

F-14A and F-15A have it in their radar TWS modes as here

http://www.thirdwire.com/man/sf2/Strike_Fighters_2.htm#Using the Radar on F-14A

The only other way is as you are doing it (target the current radar target) - then keep the HUD in normal mode - I then get rid of the Game HUD bits with a huddata.ini edit.

Where is the huddata.ini located?. Made a search but didn't find it.

I just want to remove these two. Do you know any way to do that without removing the radar?.

What I really want is remove just these two info boxes and leave the rest of icons to identify friendly/Foe. I haven't had too much time to investigate and know how to do that. I know that huddata.ini can do this.

You would extract it from flightdata.cat using the extraction tool:

http://www.thirdwire.com/downloads_tools.htm

Then place the file in C:\Users\<You>\Saved Games\ThirdWire\StrikeFighters2\Flight

I'm actually quite sure that they disappear by pressing Alt+D.
But maybe only the player's info, left bottom corner, white one.

Yeah, sorry :/

Just tried that tool but I get an error message "Error opening this .CAT file, no files can be extracted".
The file is located in \\Strike Fighters 2\Flight\FlightData.CAT.

I am using the latest version and tried compatibility mode and Run as administrator.
Any ideas?.

EDIT: sorry I made a mistake installing the wrong version.

What patch level is your game up to?

I believe the two info box can be removed by putting the game on hard level.

I just use alt+d to remove any icons and when I lock on any target with the radar, I use the "current radar target" to identify the airplane. It works as sort of IFF.
I play Strike Fighters 2 with no icons at all because using only the radar makes it much more challenging.

I hope the developer can implement an IFF for all aircrafts by default.
