What happens when a plane is simply "hit" by the shilka in the simulation? Does it move slower, or just continue on its current path. With the way the shilka works it seems hard only hit a target and not kill. But what happens if you only hit it? Also, is there a way to see what happens when we hit instead of kill with the shilka? With the missiles it is easy because we know the distance of explosion, but the shilka it actually hits the plane, slightly different...

After a plane hit, it maximum speed is limited, its jamming stops, and depending on situation, it either continues its flightpath, or turn away from the threat.

Huh? It is right there above the scope. The mounting is 'above' & 'infront of' the scope panel so appears to the right of the scope near the handle. The box obscuring the foreground of the second image is someway off the left of the first image...

That would be the optical sight ~ looks pretty similar to those in other AFV.

Stereoscopic optical range-finder against ground targets.

Because HARMs are expensive and ZSU-23-4s are a low priority target. Pilots were usually forbidden to waste them on Shilkas.

Offtopic, but illustrates the power of 30 mm gun shell:

That is a high capacity mine shell which is very different from a modern shell (or *most* shell types of that period).

20mm MGFFM and 20mm MG151/20 fired:
conventional HEI shells 115g, with 3.7g of HE
mine-geschoss HE shells 92g, with 20.4g of HE
plus various AP rounds

30mm MK108 fired:
mine-geschoss HE shells 330g, with 82.5g of HE
plus AP rounds (of very limited effectiveness due to low velocity)

The Soviet 23mm VYa (predecessor to the ZSU) was using:
HE shells 200g, with 14g of HE
AP shells 200g, with 6g of HE but better penetration than any of the above weapons.

While the Mk108 could do that much damage with one hit, it is likely that each hit from a VYa round would damage an area much less than a quarter of that (roughly cubic relationship with charge weight, for radius (half for the lighter charge) ~ squared for area)

I have a question, how different would the operators' experiences be if the vehicle was moving during firing? I would certainly imagine that the gyroscope would be very important. Would anything be different besides that?

The guy is wearing a shirt with the new Libyan flag on it, so I'd guess Libyan Shilka.
