Trying to get up to speed w/this sim. So the problem is in some campaign missions. 1) the clock runs down, 2)I'm now sitting on the runway waiting to take off, 3)Tower clears me, and as soon as my plane leaves the runaway I'll get an engine fault, and sometimes others, and the MFDs go dark. Hard to complete a mission in that condition and it's jammin my learning curve.

Doesn't happen everytime. But at least once every 3 missions.

I've got my datacard loaded. What the hell is the problem? I've go no problem running TEs. In campaign is the only time I see this.
Pretty frustrated. Any ideas?

Hiker

You may have random failures enabled? Check falcon bms.cfg and make sure that set g_bEnableRandomFailures is at 0.

Good thought, but I checked and that isn't it. Any other ideas are welcome.

Same problem when you start at taxi?

Tried starting at Taxi, rather than on the runway, and the faulting has stopped for now. I'll report back after I've got a few more data points. If there's actually a problem with runway starts maybe BMS can fix it.

Thx for the idea!

From the sound of it, most probably you are forgetting something during your start up procedures. What faults exactly are you getting?

Just checking - it's default Korea isn't it? That's the only campaign I'd trust to be bug free.

Hiding in the bushes
Maybe you just scrapping your nozzle on the tarmac due to excessive pitch angle? Just a though.

If that's the case, I'd say your canopy may've been left open on the taxiway, and you failed to close it prior to takeoff. When you start on the runway the canopy is always closed.

I've never had an open canopy on a taxi start. Ramp start yes, but not taxi.

You're right, Ice, sorry for a misleading conception. I got the idea of an open canopy at a taxi start from FF which I still have and fly often... wink

All,

Thanks for all the ideas and joking around.

I've decided to take all of your suggestions to heart and promise from now on to: 1) close my canopy before takeoff, 2)to not screw around with any campaigns other than plain vanilla Korea, and 3) to not drop my load as soon as my wheels leave earth, 4) shoot anybody sneaking around my sh*t before I climb in, 5) abstain from VTOLs. wounded

Yer pal,

Ttime (Hiker)

Aagain - I'm sorry, Ttime, my post was never meant to ridicule your enquiry. My F-16 had once disintegrated during the takeoff with the canopy open and full afterburner on. Only it happened when I was flying FreeFalcon, not BMS, hence the confusion. I wouldn't take anyone's question lightly, unless... it were a question about the nose wheel steering wink

All the best, mate smile
