Sometimes I see an enemy mech and cannot target it, is it using an ECM? Also, if I get one does it run all the time or just for a limited amount of time?

Yeah that means either he is using ECM or he is under the ECM umbrella of a nearby teammate that is using it.

If you have ECM it stays on all the time, but you can switch modes either to protect you/team or to counter the ECM of the enemy.

I believe the mode switch button defaults to J. I think your ECM only counters one enemy ECM at a time.

Shoot them with a PPC. It will disable their ECM for 4 seconds letting you target them (or lock onto them with missiles). ECM runs constantly.

I'm still not convinced about the 4 seconds. I swear it looked more like 2. It also screws up your map and HUD so you don't see friendly icons.
As it is, we need a couple of ECM mechs for Tues nights. Without it I think we stand out even more for the LRM boats.
I had the atlas before, will eventually get it again and hold onto it.
The nice thing about the enemy running ECM is the jamming shows up when they're in range so you know they're there.

It is long enough that when I ran a PPC Trebuchet with 3 streaks I was able to murder Ravens using ECM. Funny thing is--my PPCs didn't even need to hit the Raven to disable the ECM... it only needed to get close to them and it would shut it down long enough to lock on.

I haven't used PPCs much since then, though, as they just don't output damage fast enough nor are any good when the enemy gets in close.
