Hi. Thanks for posting this up. Yes, there are higher reward tiers to do this, or you can use the early reward upgrades if you just want the sim and testing, without all the other "stuff", to keep the price down.
Thanks for your support! I'll be around to answer questions if anyone has any.
Cheers...

A table? How about a combined line and bar graph with a breakout pie chart and spreadsheet amortized over the next 4 quarters???!?! That would ROCK!!!!!

I did in fact JUST add a reward chart to make each reward easier to decipher. Really not my fault here--Kickstarter has absolutely no formatting on the reward text--it just sort of crams it all together... This should be easier to understand

Spread the news! Kickstarter link Took the 25$ for now, but will upgrade later for sure(probably take the whole ''participate in alpha/beta'' once I find how .) EDIT: just found how, now I'm at 65$ So what did you do to upgrade? Did you go into "manage pledge" and just type in 65.00 in the top line?

Yes, you have to manually adjust the pledge amount. For example, if you want the $20 reward, but want to add Open and closed beta, which is $20, you'd select the $20 reward but manually change the pledge amount to $40. If we're successful I'll see the increase and send a survey to make sure that's the option you wanted to add. Hope that's a bit clearer now

I'd have put it up for two months liek Elite did..you really need alot more publicity mate to hit the 300K.
Also voice acting and cut scenes as stretch goals? Both in my opinion aren't needed and a waste of funds. Also have you priced this sort of thing up properly..I could imagine that alone eating up all the money.
Surely better stretch goals would have been the first and second EModules or something...or more ships even.

Kickstarter is more than capable of generating that within that time frame. Regardless, it is what it is now Yup, I did a lot of research on various costs of each element in every stretch goal. Obviously I can't go looking for high profile actors and such using the example of the voice acting, but there is good talent to be found in that price range. If I wanted to be unrealistic I'd add EM's to the stretch goals, but a full team would have difficulty putting all the elements together for the Core Module that the stretch goals cover ALONG WITH everything that would be needed for, say, freeform trading and exploring and everything that entails with regards to assets and programming. (And, actually, I believe the 500K stretch goal includes two more ships to fly--think that's the one). It's an uphill battle to be sure. But if it succeeds it will do it honestly without promising things that can't be delivered. And, if that causes it to fail, then so be it. I'm not going to lie though...

New video out--no music or any of that jazz. Just me talking through a manual start-up sequence and discussing some of the core systems. This is the first of a series of 3. Here's the link: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nohF6uLkvvQAn important note is that I discuss how one system, the SOI allows you to focus the sim to your tastes...

awesome...really really cool ... Have already seen 2 or 3 things never done before in a space sim in that one vid.
It's already so atmospheric (speaking of, did I even see particle smoke from the damaged left window monitor?...and flickering on the EFD?)
cannot wait.. Yes. When a system shorts out there are proper effects. The EFD flickers on its own with damage--probably just saw a variation due to the flickering monitor behind it. Cheers

That's fair enough--thanks for your interest at least. You'll see for yourself in the 3rd vid, but taking off is actually not a dramatic affair. From a civilian station there's no need to get slung out into space at incredible speeds. Your ship and it are both moving in tandem--it's very much like the space shuttle (well, no LONGER ) departing the ISS. Just a few thruster bursts and you're on your way. Once you clear the hangar then you can get moving. Now, from a military ship I could see the usefulness of having a launch corridor so you could get up a bit of "speed" so as not to be a sitting duck when you enter open space. But again, we'd be talking about a quick burn just to get a bit of momentum. Now DOCKING on the other hand, that's a bit trickier. I'll probably put together another small series after this demoing that... And, you'd have to ask NEO, but I believe it has something to do with it is whatever you make it to be

what would happen to your pilot once you eject in space?
Is there some kind of SAR you can launch, or once you're out of your ship it's game over?

It's not game over at all. There's a really great gameplay mechanic I don't want to reveal for this just yet. But yes, you could certainly expect, in a combat zone, of SOME way of being retrieved if you were in trouble...

Aww screw it! I'm gonna fork over some money and come back and ask a mess of questions. This sounds like a well thought out project that stands a fair chance of completion. Here am I, a forty-something Falcon fan who bought his first PC to play Wing Commander and later, Lightspeed. It's like this thing is being written just for me. Ahh the joys of being a self-centered ego-maniac. I truly appreciate your support. By all means, if you have any questions feel free to give me a shout. Cheers...

Yes, timing has a LOT to do with this, I'm afraid. But, there's also still time to make this thing work if I can get folks to look past the fact that I'm one man with no team yet. It's impossible for me to put together the kind of presentation the SC and Elite did. It takes a team of people to do that But even if KS doesn't make it, it has drawn a LOT of attention to Rogue System, and that will be very helpful in the future. Rogue System is NOT dead if the KS doesn't meet the goal. I'm exploring alternate avenues of funding. But even without that, I WILL finish RogSys. It's not a question of IF, only of WHEN; but, it WILL get done. I don't give up THAT easy

In fact, I have. Many times, unless you're well known (or know someone within), they do the contacting. Other times a strong reader reaction will prompt them to investigate something new, too. I will attempt them again, but I never expect anything from these...

Such a shame that the Kickstarter below can get half a mill in less than a day and RS wants less than that for production. Yes I know everyone wants a Torment game..but dear god We have a few retro rpg's being remade now..yet the space sim fans seem happy with just two Sims in development..sadface.. TORMENT Come on space sim fans please back RS..people have spent loads of money on SC surely they can spare another $30 for this game..

I can't figure it out either...

Hi all. A new video is up--this time showing some celestial elements of the dynamic galaxy. At the 1:20 mark, if you look at the dark side of the planet, you can see some city lights as well as lightning flashes. There's a bit more info in the vid description. It doesn't. Quite simply, I had limited time to build the pre-Alpha concept art for the kickstarter, and I came up with the idea of the canopy monitor system AFTER the art for the player's ship was mostly done. There wasn't time to implement the system, write the shader for it AND rebuild the art. One of the first things to do after the kickstarter is finished (funded or not) is to go through a proper concept phase. The look of the monitors and how they are laid out can be finalized then. Thanks for the question

from a purely visual point of view I love seeing pilots through windows in space sims..very few have done it due to the fact when Space Sims where popular transparency was a big thing in graphics.
Esp in the big ships..one thing I jumped for joy over with SC is that you could see into the windows of the big carriers.
I also wonder about monitor display..surely some new glass type material would be used..as relying on tech just to be able to see out is a risky venture and one Pilots would be woe to try out during testing phase. Hmm..rather had windows myself..see pilots at the stick..see pilots freezing to death..see pilots dead at the controls..immersion. Pilots could have personalized helmets etc..so you recognize the flight leader.
I was alittle disappointed over the monitor idea..the only thing though.
I always wish you could see the pilots in Mechs aswell different game though:).

Indeed, yes The website was updated (mainly so I could maintain it myself rather than having to rely on someone else). The forums have also been cleaned up. There is a new "News" section for DCI news, and I have a Developer Journal thread started on the forums for RogSys related updates. Also, there is an RSS feed. www.roguesystemsim.comMainly, right now I'm working towards a public pre-Alpha that I can release for those who contribute to development. I'll have some news on this at the website this weekend. There's a few prerequisites that have to be met before the pre-Alpha test version can be released. You can read about this in the dev journal, but mainly I've spent the last couple of weeks doing a revision to some of the "foundation" code--mainly just improvements in efficiency based on a recent code review I did. Since a lot of this is pretty fundamental stuff I wanted to do it now before beginning to layer on anything new. Once finished (should be done this weekend), I'll begin coding the first pass of the final implementation of ship systems. For example, the full electrical system has been fully designed--offering many possibilities for not only various power loss, but also many ways to reroute power to stay in the fight...
