Anyone interested in setting up a regular MWO game night?
Got together with Karlsnow on TS last night and we had some good rounds. I know he and Brennus often run together.
If we set a night or two that works for everyone to get on about the same time it would help with planning ahead to make the time.

Any interest? What night(s)?

Time zone?

CST here, usually able to get on at 10 CST, but could probably handle 9 for set up game nights.

Prob Tues and Fri would be my best bets, but can prob manage Wed or Thurs.

Definitely interested, was actually thinking about this.

Almost any night would be ok for me, but I usually can't get on until later in the evening.

I will just chime in for now saying 'yes' and that I will try to work my schedule to whatever works for most of you guys.

Look forward to it!

Cheers.

I'd be interested too, though I'm on the West Coast and tend to play mostly later in the evening ET time.

Updated my post with my time zone etc. I think you're on when I am Kludger, despite the time difference.

I'm usually free during the work week any time after 8PM EST, and usually never free Saturday or Sunday. 9PM or 10PM CST is 10PM or 11PM EST? That's not impossible, but 10PM EST (9PM CST) would be preferable.

MWO almost requires good teamwork, and a 4 man group would be awesome, an 8 man group would be outstanding!

Good games last night, must have just missed Klar & Bren.
Figured out my best set up: mouse and throttle from my ThotasX. Gives my kb a break. Just couldn't get comfortable with the full stick and couldn't hit anything.

Yeah good games last night Raw Kryptonite.

I will keep joining SimHQ TeamSpeak whenever playing, I'm usually on from ~8pm Pacific Time, but sometimes I can make it earlier, especially if we setup a specific night.

I am currently CST, problem is, since we don't have DST here, the time shift changes for me.

For example, right now I am 2 hours ahead of Seattle time.

This actually looks like it would work good (with Kludger's time), as my usual time on is between 10-11 my time.

I will start ensuring that I am on the SimHQ TS3 server.

If we pick a night, I should be able to make it. In general, during the week is a bit better for me, but let me know what works for you guys.

Cheers!

Hey, fellas... I'm an old friend of Raw's, and I know Magnum from XBL. I'd love to run some MWO. Eastern Standard time, usually in bed by the time Raw rolls in at 11 local. Ha.

Sounds like we have a good mix of East and West coast players.

If we can pick a night, then we could start at a time for the early players, and then people could just join up as they are able.

DoubleTap, what is your handle in MWO?

I am open now to say Monday - Thursday evening?

Is there an Arma night, or other night one of those evenings that might conflict? If so, lets rule that out and start to narrow down some choices.

Cheers!

I think Military Monday is Arma night(?).
How about we kick this off with Tues night 9CST, knowing people will float in/out due to timezone. Just do what you can and hop on the SHQ teamspeak server so you get picked up since the game doesn't have a pop up message. First one on start up the MWO server.

We can then discuss if we want a 2nd set night later in the week. Sound good?

Glad you made it DT! I think he's Doubletap68 in the game.

Sorry for the delay, Raw speaks the truth (hey, it's been known to happen...)

Doubletap68 is my MWO handle, as well as my XBL gamertag (Red River, anyone?)

We had some great rounds last night, Kludger, Mojo and I cleaned up pretty well in most rounds. Others can get ugly.
We have a nice mix of mechs. They do a good job of bailing my slow ass out of trouble. LOL

Yup, lots of fun last night.

It was nice to hook up with the guys here again, haven't had a chance to for a while.

We are going to make a good point of being on the SimHQ TS3 server, so anyone interested, keep an eye out for us on there.

Cheers!

Tues is a go, figure around 9CST. First one on set up the MWO server please.
People will come and go as time permits I'm sure.

SimHQ Teamspeak server instructions:
http://simhq.com/forum/ubbthreads.php/topics/3137414.html
Join the server then just scroll down and look for an MWO room. If you don't see it, just wait around and someone will start it up, or do so yourself.

Will be there.

Looking forward to it.

If we get over four, we will have to scrounge up enough to fill an 8-man on one of the other TS Servers, so test connection settings to both of the Comstar NA and NoGutsNoGalaxy TS Servers found in this thread:

https://mwomercs.com/forums/topic/60477-unofficial-community-run-voice-chat-servers/

They are probably the best two servers to pick up some extras if we need them.

Patch is out, make sure you are updated in advance if possible.

Things of note:

- New Map 'Alpine' apparently, quite large.
- New Medium Mech 'Trebuchet'.
- PPC's disrupt ECM for 4 seconds.

Full notes here: https://mwomercs.com/game/patch-notes

Cheers!

Checked out the new patch and got to play the new map. BIG. ER PPC's, ER Lg lasers and LRM's will be in fashion or you do a lot of dodging before ever getting to take a shot. Apparently PPC's will knock out an ECM for 4 seconds (max), so with those factors we'll see more of them.

Cool I will be online shortly.

I just spent my piggy bank C-Bills on a new Trebuchet 3C, will be my first real use of LRMs since early in the closed beta when I tried them and saw that I got bored sitting there shooting missiles, but with this 100kph moving LRM and ML mech, it should be much more fun doing the fast mobile LRM thing and then closing in for the energy kills once out of ammo.

Will be there in about an hour.

Changed my Dragon build from 3 LL to 2LL and a PPC.

Will try to coordinate some 'disable ECM with PPC, blast them with LRM'.

I set up an awesome with 2 ER PPC's on the one arm, hoping the heat will be worth it. I wish we could change mechs in the lobby after finding out what the map is. Like Chromehounds did. wink

I think it's safe to say that last night was successful, despite the 8 man group learning curve. I'll do my best to free up Tuesday nights between 10PM and 12AM.

Very pleased with the turnout! It was interesting trying the 8 man team. It would be nice to have 8 ready to go from the start so we could plan out our roles a bit. You can't really build on the fly for new situations, and that was certainly different. LOL
I think I'll stick to my usual in general, but for the 8 man deal keep something more specialized aside.

So what did we learn last night?
-got to have some fast movers on the large team, for capturing points and laser designating for LRM's
-in conquest, find the delicate balance between splitting the group in order to break up the enemy and having enough in a tight group to help each other survive until reinforcements can get there
-call your location out if you need help since there are so many of us to keep up with
-for an 8 man team we need to have some variety, more lights and more heavy/assault

what else?

Definitely a fun night.

Raw, your points are all valid.

Also, I am wondering if we want to look at a little more structure/command?

I am thinking of a hint of how we play Arma?

Maybe even break into two lances of four, each with a leader, calling targets keeping the groups together.

A reminder that the 'Q' key (default) is your friend to see who everyone is.

That sounds like a good foundation Krypto. A chain of command would also work Mojo, just as long as we keep it casual, as per SimHQ ArmA style where commanders rotate on a regular basis. I would also like to add one more suggestion, why don't we all list our current Mech configurations so we can compare and contrast possible team configurations. I'll list my Mech Bay as soon as I get a chance...

Agreed to keep it casual, with commander rotation. Good way to find out what types of strategies work and don't work.

I like the idea of listing the mechs. I have most of my builds saved in Smurfy's MechLab tool: http://mwo.smurfy-net.de/mechlab

Here is the Flame I was running last night: http://mwo.smurfy-net.de/mechlab#i=56&l=093859033e4a8008f705ff22b604fc4ef326976e

Cheers!

I've liked that Flame. Going to build up a little more cash tonight and then work on a new atlas.
Without getting too militant and serious, I like the idea of command/squads if we can get on at a time where people can make it.
Probably good to come up with some thoughts here and then just execute in the game, but I'm up for whatever route you guys want to experiment with.

To keep from having monster threads, maybe we could have a weekly prep thread where we could update what mechs we've got prepped and then strategize a bit.
Wouldn't want anyone to feel pigeon-holed in a mech type they might not like enough to stay with all the time.

New threads for each week would work well (Arma is doing this).

Also, for the problems last night, apparently some upstream hosts of MWO were under a denial of service attack, so that explained why some people were fine, and others not. Apparently, I wasn't in the path of the 'warzone', but Kludger and Raw were.

Hopefully see some of you on tonight, I have a bit more premium time to use before it expires.

Cheers!

Yeah I should be on tonight too, looking forward to some game time and working on my Trebuchet-3C tweaking.

I should be on about like last night. Got the new atlas, but not happy. I think I need a 120 ton limit to fit what I want. LOL

Haha I know how you feel, the Tebuchet-3C looked awesome and I bought it and found out the stock build has lots of weapons but paper thin armor allocation, so I've now had to drop weapons and ammo to add armor especially since it runs a 300XL engine and I die if the torsos are breached...

Sold one of my Cents that I never drove and bought a Commando to run as a scouter/harrasser, outfitted it with the biggest engine I can, as much armor as I can and a SRM4, SRM6, and MLAS, which gives it a decent alpha. may swap in a tag if that proves helpful. currently runs about 135 blazingly fast and If I stick to cover I can engage and disengage basically at will

Cool!
I've got my Stalkers, pretty similar to each other, I set up the founders atlas for LRM's, another atlas for long range PPC/lg lasers. Going to save up now for a catapult so I can have something a little faster to keep up with you guys.
This may be a good test and tune night. LOL

Count me in, I just got home from work and it's girls' night out, so I should be free 'til 11PM EST.

Here's my (Cataphract) CTF-4X MechLab configuration:

I just missed you guys but caught up with Kludger. Games last night ran much better than the night before.
After spending some time off and on yesterday rebuilding, I went from having few mechs that I like to too many that I like.

I updated today (quite a few patches I'd missed) and had a game and it has changed a lot since I last played! Love the starting up the mech and the PPCs sound great, really beefy and killed someone with them biggrin

One question though, I have the anti-missile system but it didn't seem to work as missiles hit me and my mech didn't seem to 'do' anything. Do I have to switch it on?

Don't forget the AMS ammo...

Ammo and it can only take out so many. Very effective for small volleys or in a group of mechs equipped with them covering each other. You should hear it and see the ammo count running down.

Same place as LRM and other ammo. 1 is usually enough, but if running something heavy like an atlas and if you've got the room, 2 sets is good.

Really enjoying the bonus for Founder and Hero mechs this weekend, I've been running my Founder's Atlas-D with 2xUAC5 2xLL 2xSSRM2 and racking up some c-bills with the bonus (~150k-200k), going to fund that new Cataphract-4x I've been eyeing hopefully to placate my desire for the Ilya Muromets.

Gotta love the weekend bonus.

After games last night, when I should have been shutting down, I splurged on some paint, then camo, then a Cataphract. LOL Was going to get the Ilya, but went cheaper with a 1x build I'd done on that website.
Hope to test some tonight.
