I understand there is a key stroke to bypass the engine start up?
Is there anything else that I can fast forward through?
I know there are other in depth systems modeling here like radios and what not but, I just want to blow #%&*$# up...
I understand if you guys wanna tell me to go fly the FC3 A-10A but, there has to be other people like me that want to try the C w/o all of the baggage.
Thanks!

I can still fight w/o setting up the radios or other systems?
Edit: The CDU too?
Thanks!

Using the gun is is as simple as three clicks: 1. master arm 2. Gun arm 3. Trigger Really, what else do you need to blow stuff up.

Don't forget, keyboard 4 to set autopilot to ALT/HDG, then left throttle button to enable/disable it. Cuts you some slack when toying with the equipment, you don't have to constantly watch your altitude and attitude. Also ideal for setting a circular loiter pattern, bank a few degrees (10 or 15 to start with) and enable it.
Taking off is peanuts, hit shift+f to retract the flaps once you're flying faster than 185kts.
What helps for me, if only to create a sense of ability to make it home safe, is to make sure you can land without wrecking the aircraft. To do so, aim the Flight Path Marker roughly 5 meters beyond the runway treshold (so on the runway itself) and keep it there. That and keep your airspeed around 140/150kts.
You won't steal the show but you won't cause any damage either. Hell, you can even do it without the airbrakes and without flaps. If you want to gradually perfect your landing skills, start by keeping both the FPM and the imaginary -2.5 degree HUD line at the same spot 5 meters beyond the treshold.

THIS I do NOT want to cheat on. Its the myriad of systems settings and switch locations that puts me off. I am getting old, I have stuff from work I am trying to learn and I just can't keep everything straight in my head. The last couple times I just quit out of frustration but, I keep wanting to come back to this game to play it.

Some of the most fun and skill in weapons delivery comes from the gun and CCIP MK82s which are very non-technical to use. I am noticing that my gun piper is WAY off both vertically and horizontally. Are there settings I need to enable to tweak it? Thanks!

This was the feeling I had when I first got into the game, but after a month of flying, I know all the systems and start-up is a breeze for me. Just take your time online with someone guiding you through the systems. It is MUCH faster than reading the manual. You'll be up in no time. I just spent about $1200 in upgrades for this (well, DCS F-18 really) game. I hope you are right LOL

Are there settings I need to enable to tweak it? Thanks! There are four gun sights available, two computed and two fixed. The computed reticles need accurate ground surface data to display accurately (DTS should suffice). The fixed reticles are only valid in wings level at the appropriate distances.
