Stunning video of a dolphin aproaching a group of divers. It's hard to imagine that it knew that only a human could help, but the video speaks for itself.

It's amazing that creatures such as these will overcome natural fear to allow themselves to be helped. Pilot whales, humpback and minke whales sometimes get tangled in fishing nets up here and will generally calmly allow humans to untangle them and even cut the nets off them.

Always take sides. Neutrality helps the oppressor, never the victim. Silence encourages the tormentor, never the tormented. Elie Wiesel. Romanian born Jewish writer, professor, political activist, Nobel Laureate, Holocaust survivor. 1928 - 2016.
Indeed the safest road to Hell is the gradual one - the gentle slope, soft underfoot, without sudden turnings, without milestones, without signposts. C.S. Lewis, 1898 - 1963.
Interesting information Archie. I had not heard that about the whales allowing themselves to be helped. I would have thought that there natural instinct after all the years of whaling would be to avoid humans at all costs.
We humans must not make the mistake of thinking we're the only intelligent creatures on this planet.
In all my years I've never seen the like. It has to be more than a hundred sea miles and he brings us up on his tail. That's seamanship, Mr. Pullings. My God, that's seamanship!

Interesting! Thank you for sharing this unique situation within nature.

There is quite an industry out here in "whale watching". The more adventurous types can go sea kayaking as well. Whales generally show no fear of boats or people. They generally just ignore them but sometimes curious ones will just lie on the surface and "watch the watchers".
here's a short clip from the CBC about getting whales out of fishing nets.
Wish they could have gotten the hook out of the dolphin. Wonder if it will eventually just rust away, I'd like to think so........ Yeah, they're mammals, whales, dolphins.....seems to be a connection they know about. Maybe we should 'get it' too, I mean ALL of us.
