Instant mission, that's all I do.

Right from the get go.

Pretty sure I have set the axes, etc, but ???

I know millions of people have everything squared away with this sim, but I just don't know what I am doing wrong.

Win7 and X52.

Go into your response tab in the options and make sure none of your axes are constantly active, could be some problem in controls mapping.

I fiddled in the responses tab, as suggested, and have it sorted, for now. Pitch was mapped to both the mouse and the joystick.

I was trying to fly both the Dh.2 and an Albatross, same thing. But I just did a quick mission with the Spad, and I crashed it very nicely, but not by spinning! smile

Thanks, guys!

Yeah, conflicting controls = Very Bad Thing

Also, never have a steering wheel and joystick connected at the same time! eek

Again, thanks for the suggestions.

Guess I should read the manual re: the key/control mapping.

I hate that part of any flightsim. Just lazy, I guess.

I wasn't aware of that. I haven't experienced any problems thus far, but I'll disconnect the wheel just to be safe. Thanks!

RoF generally seems to handle multiple controllers quite well - at least as far as recognising that they aren't the same device. It can get confused sometimes if you unplug them, and then reconnect in a different order, but that is a problem with the Windows API - a crappy design that M$ have made no real effort to fix.

I just watched it, better late than never, that's my motto! (I just don't have a lot of time to get on the computer, usually.)

Video explains a lot, thanks.

popcorn I seem to pull too tight in turns and Spin in. ( Sopwith Tri and Pup) I was on line and doing well got hits and surviving a nice long Game in Multi player. Along came an Albatross D III in a turn I curved down pulled for leed and spun into the ground. Oh well, Try Try another day

I am a much better bomber pilot than fighter pilot, at least in RoF. I used to be able to somewhat hold my own in the WW2 sim that shall not be named. Online in RoF I can get a few kills here and there, but I find it's usually a beginner or novice. Offline play I can hold my own mostly................mostly.

Another tip...the planes are light and the torque and gyro can be strong. When I pull a HARD turn, unlike in a jet, I throttle DOWN. The loss of power isn't major (because you're going to bleed off anyway with only ~200 hp or so, it's not an F-16), but the reduction in the engine's other effects on handling can be the difference between a spin and a successful turn.

Think of it like taking your foot off the gas in a turn, even if it doesn't require braking...I know in your line of work that's something you're familiar with. biggrin
