I can't wait for a good WWII setup for DCS World including fighters, bombers, proper terrain, and ground objects. The P-51D was the proof-of-concept. The FW will be the first step in getting there, the release of EDGE and new terrains will be the biggest step, and getting several planes and ground objects that are era-appropriate will be the final step.

I know there will be a lot of people upset that planes from past eras are being permitted by ED, but i for one am glad to see the WW2, Korea and vietnam content being expanded.

Why would anyone get upset? Servers can control which planes are allowed and which ones aren't right?

Never underestimate peoples capacity to get upset and indignant over the silliest of reasons.

There has been plenty of complaining about this in other threads. Some people think ED should only give licenses to parties who intend to build modern era modules, and tell the remainder to go away. It's been said by some they don't want to see DCS become a "Combat FSX" style simulation. Why that would be a bad thing, i don't know. As you said, nothing is forcing servers to play P-51s and FW-190s in modern scenarios.
I guess some people think that if they're not personally interested in certain types of modules, third parties simply shouldn't be allowed to develop them.
There are plenty of WWII scenarios that do not require large formations.
Now if people are assuming that ED is going to neglect current-era planes for WWII, I can see them being upset. To find out that ED was going to put the next modern plane on the backburner in favor of making a WWII prop they have no interest in would be a legitimate gripe, but that did NOT happen.
When it's 3rd parties, though, what do they care? If it's a fictional plane, again why care? They could put SHIELD's flying A/C carrier from The Avengers in and I wouldn't care, even as I wouldn't buy it.
Is their intent to bully the 3rd parties into making just what THEY want? Do they not want 3rd parties at all? Do they want ED to exercise some sort of iron grip over them and make them make JUST the "right" planes? It's not like we'll be flying Su-27s intercepting some F-15s and oops, there's a flight of FW's over there strafing a friendly airfield.
