Same here but I'm sure there are people out there who would still be interested.

Absolutely. Also once on the planet I am sure they could figure a way out. I really beleive we need to go and colonize the other planets for us a species to mature. My opinion only.

Strange; I use similar requirements when recruiting my Kerbals. The age bar is a bit lower though - the younger they are, the easier it is to mold them to the working practices of my space agency. Age and experience are are not limitations at all! (Seriously. It doesn't help at all...)

A lot of them tend to go on one-way missions as well...

Canada, eh!
Mars one hinges on raising $6,000,000,000 via advertising revenues and even then clear several absolutely major technical hurdles.

This isn't going to happen.

Not just mature, but to survive. Sooner or later it is a FACT that either a comet or asteroid is going to hit that will be a global event. If our species is to survive, we MUST disperse ourselves on other planets. Otherwise we will go the way of the dinosaurs.

if Ridley Scott drew up the process of mars one, then i am not going to take my helmet off.

I am not going to touch any goo without propper equipment

I will not listen to the ramblings of so called "experts" who do nothing exceptional in their area of expertise

I will definitely not let the robot talk first to the big buff aliens,

And if there is any snake like loking creatures, there will be no way in f@cking hell i am going to try and pet it !!!

-----------
Heck, i would be up for it. Prime land going cheap !!! Though walking the dog in the arvo is going to be a tad tricky.

"The astronauts must be intelligent, creative, psychologically stable and physically healthy"

Hmmm. Does that make sense for people volunteering for an extremely ambitious and
underfunded project that is supposed to be accomplished in ten years, and looks
on perfunctory perusal to be likely to be extremely short of a whole lot of
basic local infrastructure. Without a system in place to generate hardware from
local material, they would be targets for any random failure or oversight. The
only things they mention are local soil for radiation shielding and possibly
mud bricks, and wood, eventually from trees they grow. How do they plan to
make metal tools, or materials for clothing and atmosphere seals? The first
thing they are going to need is a full local manufacturing system, and it
would be crazy to go there without it already well in place. Also i don't think
thy have a grasp of scale. If they think they're going to support eight people,
they are going to have to have a whole lot more space for agriculture...

As I understand it, the first mission launched will not be manned- somehow this will setup the colony, but it will be accomplished by robots or something.

The juicy part is that it's all supposed to be broadcast in a reality show format. So, they'll need to get personalities which clash, little cliques forming so you have tribes and all the drama you can stand.

If this whole thing goes off as hoped, I'll eat my arm.

Will Mars be a chance to begin again in a land of golden opportunity and adventure?

This sort of deal is just one of those do it for the sake of doing it. If people are running out of things to do on Earth, there's even less going for Mars. What are the chances this company will even still be around in 10 years?

I'll volunteer for the population production aspect of the colonization project. And yes, I'm doing it for the sake of doing it.

You're assuming the women going to Mars will look like Kaley Cuoco and not Janet Reno.
