From testing the new DGen I have the feeling that randomization is working a little bit better now. But it is a complex topic. Sometimes the problem of always flying the same mission is not so much caused by DGen, but by the poor design of the red and blue map template files. On some maps there are too few targets or they are placed at the wrong locations and will not be recognized by DGen. Moreover Asura has discovered that some mission types were never correctly implemented into DGen, that's the reason why they are never created, even when they appear in the ops files.
The improvement of mission generation in DGen will be a long term process. Some issues will already be fixed in the first official release of the new DGen, but other improvements will need more time and will be added in later versions.

Just to get Dgen working again with the new releases will be a blessing anyway. Thanks for your efforts on this.

Great news, Juri, thank you. Is there any chance we see Bessarabia and/or Slovakia maps incorporated into the new DGen?
By the way, DT has just revealed that, let me quote, "On the way is Central Tunisia map with new desert buildings and trees" smile

The data for new maps can be added relatively easy to the new DGen. What's needed are files with the coordinates of towns, bridges and airfields. But someone has to build campaigns for these maps and that can be quite time-consuming.

Now it works on my system. Noticed it has revised cruising speeds, cum grano salis. It looks this DGen can also deal with cruising speeds lower than 150 km/h. Good.

I just tried the new DGen and I can't generate any campaign. I get the message "Can't open DGen_mod.ini" in the Dgen_modERROR file. What am I missing? I run a straight 4.11.1, no mods whatsoever.

Have you forgotten to put the DGen_mod.ini file in the games main folder?

As a matter of fact, yes smile Thank you. Is your Solomons campaign downloadable somewhere?

By the way, looks like there's a major improvement in randomization of Pacific missions. I tested first three missions of two different campaigns and every time came up with a different mission (or a different localization). Great work!

My Solomons campaigns are finished. The problem is, there are still two issues when the latest Dgen.exe is used. During long distance intercept missions the flight routes of enemy and friendly flights are sometimes slightly too far away and the flights will not meet each other and in airstart bomber missions there is a formation issue, that can cause collisions. Both problems originate from the old DGen code by Starshoy and I guess Asura will fix them in the next DGen version.

Too bad. Hopefully Asura will fix the problem soon. He's doing a great job.
By the way, are there any other campaigns in the works, on the maps not previously included in the DGen? The MTO map, perhaps?

Thank you so much, Juri!

Me too have no problem so far with DGen_mod v1.0.0.7. Now downloaded v1.0.0.8.

Cheers,

Just downloaded it to take a look; a quick point: the F4F-3 (which you have available as a player aircraft in the USN campaign) was not used in combat or carrier ops after Midway. There were F4F-3As and recce F4F-3Ps of VMF-212 and VMO-251 on Efate, in August, 1942, but in the event they were never deployed to Guadalcanal.

Alright, I will remove the F4F-3 in the next version of the campaign. I always try to make my campaigns as historical correct as possible, so tell me when you find more inaccuracies.

By the way, unfortunatly at the moment there are some issues in the current version of Asura's DGen, that can cause problems in my Solomons campaigns. I hope this will be fixed in DGen 2.0.
