I wear a jacket very similar to this one quite a bit during fall/spring and sometimes winter, with an MTAC IWB or a Minotaur OWB, depending. All of this stuff is obvious until it happens. Anyway, it cannot hurt to remember! http://www.gundigest.com/handgun-reviews...p;rid=233891050God bless!

Always good to get a cautionary tale. Thanks, Airdrop.

Safety not engaged, or is the Sig using a trigger-front safety? There are no external safeties on 200 series SIGs. All the safeties are internal. Just like a DA revolver, if you keep your booger hook off the trigger you're all good. Well unless you get a pull cord caught in there as you re-holster apparently...

Thanks for the explanation Colt. Reminds me to never consider a gun like that (though the 229 is damn sweet). Would you be afraid to carry a double action revolver with a hammer block safety? Same thing. The SEALs have been using the P226 since the mid-80s. The Secret Service and DHS use the P229. It's perfectly safe unless your trigger discipline is crap and then you'd be a menace with ANY gun.

Safety not engaged, or is the Sig using a trigger-front safety? I have a 229-SCT, not quite the same as the DAK in the article, but almost, but with a further measure of safety over the DAK in my opinion, with the addition of a manual de-cocking lever. The 229 does not have a manual safety. Further, the DAK model is Double Action only, with no de-cocking lever. -Skater

I'm not sure the trigger getting caught on something qualifies as bad trigger discipline - of course I'm a very occasional shooter with little experience, but to me the later means to keep my finger off unless I want to hit something. Mechanical snags are never fully excluded...

I have a habit of running my finger outside of the trigger guard while holstering, just to check for obstructions...
