Yes, great photos! Nice prop and rotor blur.

I'm hoping to see a British Apache this weekend - first time I've seen an Apache fly in over 20 years.

a different Herc

Ken, you coming to the UK or they coming over to you? smile

Paradazm, Andover huh? any heads-up on any exercises would be welcome biggrin

the snow day was the closest i think i've ever gotten to an active Apache - even got hit by a stone it chucked up as it passed over head

i had to make a panno to get the above shot it was so close (nearly blew me off my feet)

More great shots, Bob! Great prop blur on the Herk smile

The Apache came to me. Well, to El Centro California. I guess they do some training out of there. I haven't gone through all my photos yet, but here's a quick shot of it:

Not attempting to hijack, these are great quality shots......I've added a couple more AH64D shots to an existing thread.

Ken, do you have any AC130 photos in your arsenal? Certain platforms intrigue me, that's one of them, the AH64, Phantom and Tornado are personal favourites too.

Yep, very nice pics, and great panning work on 34! Did you use a momopod or anything?

I've still managed to go to a few air shows this year, but a lot fewer than usual (although it was kind of a nice break).

I went to El Centro before the sequester hit and saw the Blue Angels, went to Planes of Fame in May and Wings Over Gillespie in June, both of which are private, and Miramar is still going to have their air show this year, even without the Blue Angels. They say it will be the largest Marine Air/Ground Task Force (MAGTF) display ever.

Here's an article that talks a little about the economic impact of the loss of air shows:
http://money.msn.com/now/post--canceled-air-shows-chill-a-joy-of-summer

I have to admit, it might be kind of nice for people like me who prefer the straight military craft over the display teams - smaller crowds and maybe better photo ops.

Well I decided to take the day off (heard tales last week of Saudi Airforce) and see what i could find from Bluebells - I don't think i got the right point, the shots you guys are posting look much higher up than I was (think i need a guide!) nearly killed myself getting to the point too..

Watched the weather for a while..

Cracking snaps - esp. #36 and #40! Thanks for sharing!

Those Finnish Hawks staged an occupation of my Facebook page over the last few days - my friend likes hanging round the Mach loop with a camera too!

Cheers biggrin

P.S. What's the story with the helicopter in #36? It doesn't seem to have a registration.

Marvellous shots!

#34 takes me back - I remember being amazed at Chinooks coming around woods at low level when I was in the TA.

Mind you, that was so long ago we were still on chariots!

Fantastic!

#60 takes me back to the Cold War days in Germany and helicopters pausing in tiny clearings during hunter-killer exercises. Pretty incredible to come around a bend in a trail hanging on for dear life on the cargo hatch of a 113 to see a helicopter grinning at eye level through the trees.

Hit up Wales last week with my new 7D2 - but my 70-200 wasn't playing ball and i lost a lot of shots due to taking a picture and the camera telling me it couldn't communicate with the lens frown (lens went away today for repair)
