As a complete ROF newbie(and future addict I'm sure...), I would appreciate some advice and recommendations on what I should be looking for in the ROLF store etc to enhance my experience and ways to save some money in doing so(special deals/sales etc).
I would say that my initial priorities for the sim are: Flying for GB. Historically accurate as possible(campaigns/skins etc). Burn and turn planes. Boom and zoom planes. Quality maps. Off-line and online usage. Learning/educating myself about this sim/genre in general.
Many thanks!

Being new to the sim myself (less than a week now), I look forward to the responses you get. I did purchase the Ultra Edition, so I'm ahead of the power curve when it comes to aircraft, but I'm still curious about the plethora of add-ons. I will likely purchase all of them soon, if only to support 777's efforts.

Hey Gromit. I got the ROF "Iron Cross Edition" a while back. I can't seem to find the Ultra edition (it does come up as an option for the ROLF demo upgrade on the site though). Yes it's a nice idea to be able to directly support 777's efforts by way of upgrading various components of this sim.
Cheers

S!ap The Ultra Edition was an online purchase for $72USD as an upgrade to the demo. I did not purchase at a brick and mortar.

Thx a bunch Gromit/Patrick. I've been spending the last few days trying to program HOTAS/TrackIR etc and general familiarization with ROF. I bought most of the planes and mods etc whilst they are on sale and even tried a couple of online seshs last night; it was great fun/pain(being massacred at every turn :)) and it brings back good memories of how EAW "felt" online(energy management/flight physics etc). Looking forwards to the long learning curves ahead and being a ill-looking recluse. I will have bags more questions I'm sure. Thanks for support chaps. S!ap

GB T&B Planes: DH2 Some N11 Squadrons Pup Tripe N17 Camel (the ultimate T&B plane)
B&Z SE5a Dolphin Some SPAD squadrons
If you want an RNAS career arc you can do N11/Pup/Tripe/Camel.
A RFC career arc could be DH2/Pup/SE5a.
N17 was used quite a bit and could be substituted for the Pup.
Dolphin and SPAD are IMHO not necessary, but they are there if you want them. Pat, I'm curious why you categorize the Dolphin as BnZ and the Tripe as TnB. The Dolphin actually turns better than the Tripe.

I don't think you can B&Z with the Tripe very well, therefore T&B is what you must do.
I will second that the Dolphin doesn't seem to turn as well as many of the other planes. It's quite stable, actually, and that seems to carry over into reduced agility compared to the twitchier birds. Perhaps an experienced hand can T&B with it better than I, but that stability really lends itself to the BnZ well. Actually, I think the Dolphin is even more stable than the SE5a!
