Barfly has made some awesome sim films using IL-2 and CloD.
This is his first try with RoF...and he created an instant classic!

Enjoy!
And Merry Christmas to all! santa

Very close to perfection. Where were you when we made Faith, Hope and Charity? We would have needed your 3D animations expertise. A few constructive criticism:

- Add voice acting for your characters with corresponding 3D facial emotions
- Add pronounced sound effects within the action shots to add emphasis to the sequence

But even without these things I still considered this short a great/superb job. Continue the great work.

Respectfully,

THX-1138

That was something special.

I am pleased that 777 have taken over IL2 so now maybe we will see some more good movies from that in the future as well.

Hi to all now also here SimHQ forum, and thanks to all.

Thanks THX-1138 and when your team made this a great real movie "Faith, Hope and Charity" = Very big job. So I was this time a complete beginner, yet (Flight combat sim machinima area) and also I did not know this time anything at all CGI animation making / softwares etc. (serious sense), the CGI wide area is to me a new area also even, but, of course all the time learning new interest things - Today understand little better also animation making basics and own also little better filmmaker tools, what was a few years ago - Learning so far, however, called for many coffee and tea cups wink This area is also to me, a very interesting and challenging. Short words - I love this...

This first RoF / CGI combination project I made also very fast (My skills and tools), to do this, or went about 3 months. Barfly is mainly also one man hobby studio, so far, ie that is, all complex and require a lot of time character animation actors and dialogy I left out and keep also audio side of editing as simple, as was possible (Otherwise, this would have been an eternity project). This RoF film finishing / final point I got also some good text and idea information help to the Wiley and Russell (film assistance), ie special thanks also to them.

The mainly problem is also the fact that these short films should nevertheless be able to do relatively quickly as possible and quality without much loss of, all flight simulator fans when not in reality of high interest to the hard work of this amateur level is to make flight combat machinima videos (Anyway this mean mainly mass viewers).

My english skill is also weak, so example good voice acting or narrative story line creation is to me also big challenge - I thought this problematic about it many times... Anyway text part narrative story is not my short film style. Only voice acting -> animated characters or good voice narrative story lines my films in future is possible, if is to me possible... Example cooperation project some other hobby experts with. But of course easiest way this area is to use the some kind very old and ready soundtrack which is no longer under copyright law or copy-protected material.

This time I wanted also to show this video to the RoF short films can be do also fast style action-scenes (Today film action cutting / edit style) - Okey, somebody not like this kind style, but anyway some other RoF fan maybe like. wink Anyway, it not easy do also this kind style scenes, I, however, tried to... wink

And my next simfilm project is also RoF film, that's for sure... Now also great new RoF version, channel map, plane, you know.... RoF team did a great job. So possibly my next film story line associated with these channel landscapes and I'm hardly the only amateur filmmaker who in this direction now in the RoF film project planning. wink So, next year we will see for sure a lot of good movies, also this front.

- Thanks again to all the sim fans

- Barfly

Wouldn't it be superb if we had ground crew and pilot animations just like that!!! Also attacking Inf!! One day maybe...

Superb work..loved it.

Next time lets see some Albert Ball and the allies have a dogfight.

I'm quite happy no one speaks..it doesn't need it also most communication even between two seater planes was throw hand signals or for two seaters taps on shoulders from the rear gunner..
