Ya' gotta love ED modeled the affects of hypoxia.. I taxied out and took off on accident with my canopy open. At around 160 knots on climbout I hear this "ker-chunk" and realize what I had done and I'm missing the canopy. The loud sound of the engine during taxi should have been my clue..duh..

Anyway, continued the online mission and while making some high altitude attacks on armor positions above the surface to air threat, I noticed my monitor getting fuzzy. At first I thought my graphics card was overheating..then I realized it was hypoxia.

Interestingly, I went to 100% oxygen instead of NORM and I thought that might clear it up, but it didn't. I had to descend down below 13K or something and my vision came back to normal. Really cool..

Another fun one was when Einstein and I were practicing some A2A refueling a few weeks ago. We were flying formation on each other and noticed that our speeds were inexplicably dropping. We thought it was a bug and puzzled over it for a minute or two when we realized that neither of us had our pitot heat on. We both hit our switches and a minute later the airspeed tape came back to normal. We almost Air Franced it...

i got the same effect, when my start up had a master caution, so i shut everything down again, and started over.

took off, enroute to enemy airfield, around 10 minutes later and Angels 20, i got the same effect, thought my GPU was dying, so I pressed F2, everything was clear, Went back to F1, and looked around, and noticed the O2 Regulator was Still Off (Stupid me turned it OFF instead of ON when i re-started the startup sequence.)

I was just wondering about this the other day.... Good to know, so I don't take off with my O2 system deactivated.

Hehehe. I did this deliberately ages ago beach quite sadistically in order to find out if my virtual pilot "Joe Pineapples" was a man or a mouse. Turns out he couldn't handle a paltry bit of malicious oxygen starvation in the name of Sim-Research. Pussy.

I read in the manual that Hypoxia was modelled, but just expected a slower version of the positive G blackout effect, and was amazed to see this too.....Its frikkin cool. smile You'll also find that perception of visual contacts will be impaired; I have often encountered this phenomenon IRL, usually after consuming 10 bottles of Newcastle Brown Ale. hahaha

I swsheare, there wash ten of em!!! Ten, I saysh!!! *burp*

Actually, this isn't Hypoxia. Its Denzel Washington on a deep strike mission....Sh*tfaced on Bourbon (still haven't seen that 'Flight' film lol. Maverick Genius drunken pilot whodunnit thing.) biggrin
