Greetings All,

After playing Sniper Elite V2 (which, even though it wasn't a hardcore sim) I thoroughly enjoyed it. The atmosphere, simple controls, and gun-model truly captivated my attention. Which FPS sims would you recommend that are similar? I'm looking for things like an intuitive interface, enjoyable sniping, stealth-emphasis, realistic marksmanship, to name a few. Now naturally my target would not have to absolutely be about sniping, but it is strongly preferred. Any recommendations appreciated.

Sniper Ghost Warrior is a fun game, but like SE, it's not a sim. I like how you change positions and sometimes you're the providing cover, other times you're the guys up close needing it. Keeps it fresh.
The new one coming out next month is supposedly more hardcore.
It's got the slow-mo cam too. biggrin

Operation Flashpoint Dragon Rising had some missions with good sniping, including some single missions outside of the campaign.

Thanks, Raw Kryptonite! I'll wait for the new version of Ghost Warrior and see when it comes out. Also, for Operation Flashpoint, would you recommend Dragon Rising or Red River? Many thanks.

I played through OFDR a few times. After the first 3 missions, that are a little lame, the game takes off with some great stuff. There's a rescue mission that will have a fair bit of sniping if you take that approach, and a night observation mission that's one of my most favorite of any game.
OFRR...I couldn't get beyond the first couple of missions before putting it on the shelf. They changed the tone, dumbed it down, added foul language (to a really annoying level) and I lost interest in it. Later missions might be better, like in OFDR, but it got on my nerves too much to find out.
Far Cry 3 has a lot of sniping if you want, but no bullet drop etc. so it's not satisfying.

Give ArmA II:OA a try if you haven't! IMHO it beats OFDR hands down...

With the editor there are endless sniper fun. If you wan't more realism like wind etc. look into the ACE addon (however it will not work in free version).

I agree with KeyCat. Arma 2 with the ACE mod is the most technically accurate sniping simulation that I have seen. Arma 2/Operation Arrowhead is currently in the Christmas Steam sale if interested.

Yep, loved it when it came out. But aged pretty badly...
