So I'm a bit new to BMS but had to head this way and check it out. I'm getting fairly familiar with the basics and am having such a great time flying a fast mover. The A-10C and KA-50 just don't quite cut it compared to the Viper.

But I can't seem to find an active server on the web to play on. Flight sims are just not nearly as fun without others these days. And also, even though I have done a good amount of my homework, it sure would be nice to have a few folks to show me the ropes.

Are there any fairly active servers out there for BMS that could tolerate a Falcon newbie/long-time simmer?

There is Battle for Sinai as an active, persistent server, but this is mainly PvP. And it's brutal. There's also Veterans Gaming, but I've not tried that yet.

I don't understand why people always ask for a server to play on ---- as you can easily host a game yourself. I'm on a measly 2MB down, 0.8MB up and I can host for a 4-ship, maybe a bit more. If the objective is to meet someone who will take you under their wing, join a virtual squadron. If the objective is to meet up with someone you already know in order to fly, host the server yourself.

While you can refine your techniques offline on TEs and maybe even fly your own campaign, I do agree that there is nothing that compares to flying with a human wingman, but like I said, you don't have to go server-hopping to do this.

As said by Ice, there are several servers available but, if your looking for someone to help you along a VFW is your best bet and there are many around.

of course i'm partial to the 20th www.20thvfw.org

Cheers

Ice - Thanks for the heads up. I checked out Veteran's Gaming a couple of times and no one was on their TS.

My problem is I have no one to fly with. NO RL friends have the hardware/interest for flight sims... So I tend to try to reach out to the community for flight buddies.

Badger - Also thanks for the heads up. I'll check out the 20th fairly soon.

Ah, I gotcha Pedro. Yeah, even in DCS which has more persistent online servers, there won't be someone online all the time and even if there's some random guy, it won't always be someone who flies on the same "level" as you want to fly. So better to fly with a virtual squadron.

I'm not sure where you are, but sometimes me and some other guys fly on Tue or Thu nights about 8pm GMT. Or if you want to fly with other SimHQ members, might be a good idea to put an invite up.

Sup guys, our server is up and running. Don't use TS3 as a measure for who is in the server, most people just connect into the server and use IVC these days.

There are people flying daily at VG. We'll be at it again tomorrow morning my time 0900 PST GMT-8

Drop by anytime. You need to connect to the 2d map to see who's playing.

Cheers.
