Okaaaay, TGIFN -

Got home in time to join Thunder and played a bit in a Tunguska before the mission ended.

CA Ground Commander -
Contrary to popular belief the i key is for Isometric View (like above the turret view). Lock is Enter and Unlock is Back(space). I just don't see a way to turn off the radar yet - there is a setting for ROE: Green, Red and Auto - maybe that is it? But I want to off the radar and sneak around...

I can now fire the missiles and can lock an a/c - but when I lock I get a red or yellow bracket and the missile will not engage the a/c - it just kinda goes off on its merry way; is there a green bracket? - if Yes then the a/c must have to be very close... The cannon is good to announce one's presence - I can't hit anything with it - can't judge range and elevation well and therefore can't judge lead - would be good to have a gun aiming funnel.

What was very COOL cool is that when I joined TOK the Kutaisi Airbase had been captured by Red and the Red attackers to the Patriot Site were all played out. So I directed a bunch of armored columns from Kutaisi to the Patriot Site and those units destroyed it in the time it took them all to get there - very powerful feature. (Good treat to have when the mission designer has LOTS of problems in the mission.)

There is a minor TeamView issue right now so we may be stuck with Thunder for the Friday evening - Saturday morning. Good that it is reloading properly.

The reloading thing is important because it allows successive missions - but still need to experiment that one mission can load another (this did not work in v1.1.1.1.

Rider, not ignoring you on the v1.1.1.1 idea - we've tossed it around a bit, too. But I don't want to go back - I'd rather, as much as it is a PITA, go forward - really want to bring back all the missions with ships in them. Would have tried Bay Of Hogs tonight but for the TV issue.

I used to hate Tunguskas.

I can log in and change it here from the actual program... while web viewer may not work. I'll check

edit:

I do have access through teamviewer- the program. Looks decently busy in there- and crew said earlier that the lower civ traffic helps to smooth out frames. Artillery is still likely going to cause an issue- all the more reason to find it EARLy and kill it.

OK - later tonight in about 5 hours switch it over to some other mission... We have engaged Thunder once again.

-- edit --

Wheel & I got a DCS Stopped working message about 40 minutes in. I rejoined w/o any problem to test it and we both called it a night.

SA-19s are optically guided, like TOW missiles

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/9K22_Tunguska
Quote:
Guidance is performed by the gunner who uses the 8× magnification (8 degree field of view) 1A29 stabilized sight of the Tunguska to track the target and the missile (using a flare or pulsed beacon) is automatically tracked by the optics. The deviation of the missiles compared with the tracked target is used to calculate guidance commands, the tracking radar being used to send radio commands to the missile, making Tunguska a semi-automatic, radio command, with optical line of sight (SACLOS) system.

Looks like the optics in game aren't the same as in real life.

Oh - here's what we found -

Enemy Red forces attack Kutaisi Airbase from the North and South - it takes them a couple of hours to get there. The southern attackers have to cross a bridge and the Blue Kutaisi defenders blow up the bridge with direct fire as they are firing on the Red attackers.

This results in Civ Traffic pile up.

The longer the mission lasted the longer the line went - from miles to 7 or more - of Civ Traffic interspaced with enemy units. The line extended around Kutaisi Airbase from the southern blown bridge to north of the base. And the pilots were having fun blowing up the enemy so there was a lot of smoke and panic.

Next version of Thunder Of Kojori will turn Civ Traffic to Off - because of the traffic jam at the blown bridge. I'd seen this pile-up before and when I flew over it in my A-10C the vehicles' horns were honking - tonight I was observing from a CA slot so maybe I couldn't hear the horns - but another reason why TOK has frame rate issues.

There is suspicion that the Client's Civ Traffic setting may not be in control.

I'd be interested to know where that tanker shows up in relation to where you guys got kicked. We might want to just turn civ traffic off as you mentioned and also get rid of the additional assets if we're not using them.

That's interesting and sounds fun.

Not going to lie- if they pull off this CA idea that is just going to ROCK my world. People are going to be sitting out in the open just to hear the sound of the A-10 doing runs at them.

Shortly after CA came out, a group of us (Wreck was there!) did one of the stock MP missions and it was a blast watching A-10Cs dive in on targets, see SAMs and other ground fire reach up for them...

How do you employ the tracking radar in CA?

For which vehicle?

Pete...

Toggle Goggles: H + RShift
Goggles Gain Up: H + RShift + RCtrl
Goggles Gain Down: H + RShift + RAlt

On another note... looks like things are bustling in the server right now. Red needs some help though!

Talking about my vids, Frederf? Enter key starts a simple lock process on whichever target is within a certain range of boresight. This isn't an accurate model of the systems involved, but the lock does give you an accurate range-to-target and when manning a position with guns, it produces a linear predictive sight that's dang accurate (for non-maneuvering targets, of course).

The radar aspects of it isn't exactly modeled. Its purely a visual targeting system. However the radar will show things on Fog of War (if enabled) and the radar On/off can be set by the "State" on the F10 view. Note that the radar model might still show as turning.

Pete,

Below is for the goggles. Which I have mapped to buttons.

Toggle Goggles: H + RShift
Goggles Gain Up: H + RShift + RCtrl
Goggles Gain Down: H + RShift + RAlt

However to properly employ the goggles you must also adjust the intensity INTEN < > of the HUD on the UFC (up front controller) otherwise it gets drowned out. I also have these mapped to buttons for convenience.
