Restarted a career as Hauptman so that I could fly the Pfalz DXII instead of the D-VII I was constantly assigned. I'd asked the question earlier and was told that as the commander I'd get to choose my ride. I thought that as the sqdrn commander I'd get to choose my plane but I keep being assigned the Fokker without the capability of choosing the Pfalz. Did I delete a career for nothing????

Are both aeroplanes available to fly within the squadron?.. Click on the plane tab in the missions page to check. If they are both available and you are the squadron commander you should be able to choose which one you want to fly or allocate to another pilot.

The unit has both aircraft assigned and I've flown both in it. I clicked on everything to click and there wasn't an option to choose another ride.

IIRC, you have to be C/O of the squadron to choose your plane. At least, I believe it was only after I became C/O of Jasta 11 that I got to choose, but I'm speaking from memory here. If you look up at Calavera's post, you'll see a little flag next to his rank, just under the "g" in "Pending." That flag means that person is the C/O. I may be wrong, but IIRC, that's how it works.

I'm listed as the squadron commander as I've attained that rank flying the NE-28, SE-5, Alb DIII, and under the "older" software, thhe DXII. Come to think of it, I believe I also attained the rank flying the Pfalz DIII. What I am NOT seeing is the pictorial option of two different aircraft at the bottom of the "mission" page. Actually I'm not seeing ANY aircraft available-I just go to the mission and the hanger and the aircraft is already assigned....

If you're the squadron commander and you have more than one type of aircraft, you can choose what you fly and when you fly. It's not any different for any particular squad.

Thanks for the input guys. Yes Calavera, I'm listed as the boss of Jasta 35b and I don't get the option posted above with depicted aircraft at the bottom of the mission screen. It happens during all of the regular missions, not during a re-deployment. I'm guessing the big problem is that I'm not getting a pictorial of the available aircraft to pick my ride.

Norm! Had to do that-watched Cheers too many years!!!! It's good now-I can pick my ride under the "mission" tab. I thought it was a date issue as well but I had been assigned a DXII earlier on.... Now I have a new question-when I fly my trusty SE-5 on a mission I usually end up with a "score" somewhere between 600 and 700 for shooting down 2-3 planes and a balloon or two. When I fly my DXII and shoot down three aircraft, I get a numeric score of THREE... ??????????????????? OOOPS-another quick one.....I made the inflight map full screen and I can't remember how to get it back to the "smaller" size that fits in the corner of the screen...
