I really love the SU-27 and all of its variants, but maybe we should e-mail a world map to the DCS devs so that they can discover that there are more countries in the world than Georgia.

Really brilliant! I am sure that a DCS - Sue title will be popular some day, but I wish more developers would release Flaming Cliffs level of add-ons. Between all my military jets in FSX, Prepar3d, X-Plane, Falcon BMS & DCS I am getting so fed up with pressing buttons & starting up aircraft. I just find that I don't have the time for it all anymore, and welcome the simple approach taken by titles such as Flaming Cliffs and the Thirdwire stuff. Rather reduce the complexity of the sim, and increase the gameplay. EECH with Jets...

^ This
I refuse to buy a flight sim that I have no interest in playing, on the off chance that MAYBE someday they'll make the one I really want to play.

+ 1000
I love the DCS series and will continue to buy their products but boy what would I give for a new map or three...
"...late afternoon the Air Tasking Order came in [and] we found the A-10 part and we said, "We are going where!? We are doing what!?"

Maybe a map with some real life foreign and security disputes? (even though some of them escalating into full scale conflict is highly unlikely)
- South China Sea -- Taiwan vs China conflict with US intervention ? - East China Sea -- Japan vs China conflict with US intervention ? - Kuril Islands -- Japan vs Russia conflict over Kurli Islands with US intervention ? - Iran -- US/Israeli air war against Iran ? - Aegean Sea -- Greek/Turkish conflict with EU/NATO/US and Russian intervention ? - Ukraine -- Ukrainian-Russian conflict with EU/NATO/US intervention ? - GUIK -- Classic cold war Russia vs NATO naval/air scenario ? - Korean peninsula -- S. vs N. Korea war seen in Falcon redone in DCS flavour ?
Also in my opinion, ED is lacking direction in some areas.
Don't misunderstand me as ungrateful. I really like what we got so far (and the prospect of future influx of third party aircraft is great!), but it's all heading in the direction of an amusement park.
The most obvious of this is the P-51. I mean... what the heck? What's that supposed to do with the late cold-war/post-cold-war level of technology equipment present in the game? Please be coherent at least in that.
I don't mind the Nevada map, as long as it's going to be ever released. But I'd rather see any of the maps I listed above instead of the training map (i.e.: Nevada). And it's just that. A training map. I can't imagine anybody seriously playing/simulating any conflict between the USA and... anybody there. Even Tom Clancy (or anybody using that alias) wouldn't write something like that. It's another, but no so obvious example of the "amusement park" approach. Put something in that's cool but not really coherent with en bloc all the stuff ingame.
But maybe I'm just way too conscious about stuff like that and other people just don't really care.
Now as the relesases from third parties are approaching, please consider providing new maps so that the new content could be used in more appropriate locations instead of putting everything in a small sandbox.
Good to hear (auto update)Skatezilla and I like your thinking. Good points I have internet at work I may be able to take advantage of.
You've got me thinking now lol
I used my work Internetz for alot of downloading to USB HDD and took home when I had all my Cat5 and Coax Ripped out when I started re-wiring the house.
8GB memory Stick, Laptop, Goto WiFi Area, Download, copy to USB Stick, install on gaming PC.
or
8GB memory stick, work pc, HTTP download. take home install,
BitTorrents have always Downloaded faster than ED's HTTP.
i think the ISOs on EDs site are the latest versions.
