Hi All,
I am new to RoF ICE, which I just purchased on sale. but I am not new to air combat sims. Right now I am just trying to get the feel of things in Quick Missions, and can't find how to zoom in on the situation map in the lower right hand corner. The manual says to zoom using the mouse wheel, but the mouse controls the view, and I can't find how to disable the mouse view, which I don't want anyway.
These are probably dumb questions, but I feel hampered by not having a better situational map.

Welcome to the community! I can remember flying RoF for the first time. I am jealous of the intense rush you must be feeling, though will admit I took a month or more off, and that feeling came right back.
To change the in-flight map:
1) engage level autopilot first (if flying) have map on screen ready to alter 2) hit Esc 3) go to Options 4) close the big Options window, a series of icons should be at the top 5) you should now be able to drag the map, grab the bottom right corner and enlarge, and then scroll wheel zoom.
At least that is what I do, and always try to remember to do it before taking off. It isn't very intuitive, but you only have to do it once.

I wouldn't get too hung up on the "radar" Labels should be more than enough help, even without head tracking or padlock. If you're struggling with the AI then give it a crap plane and yourself a decent one, the DH2 and Eindecker are good for this. If you're still struggling, even the novice AI is quite good at turning, then try spawning a friendly aircraft to shoot at,the AI wont complain. Bombers are good for this, nice slow and large, make sure you spawn a friendly though or you may have trouble with the gunners. Hope this helps
