The early 70s had some of the best music ever written.

Here's a link to a nice Levon Helm tribute at the ACL:AMF, an all-star version of "The Weight."

It was 1990, give or take, I don't remember
When the news of revolution hit the air
The girls hadn't even started taking down our posters
When the boys started cutting off their hair

The radio stations all decided angst was finally old enough
It ought to have a proper home
Dead, fat, or rich, nobody’s left to #%&*$#
About the goings on in self destructive zones

Here's a link to another band performing on ACL. A band from Pennsylvania I've been listening to for 6 or 7 years now, Dr. Dog. Got a chance to see them twice this year, at Forecastle here in Louisville, and at MMW in Nashville.

The Shocking Blue version of "Venus" is a good one but I like the remake by Bananarama too.

From the hills rebounding
Let this war cry sounding
Summon all at Cambria's call
The mighty force surrounding

Men of Harlech onto glory
This shall ever be your story
Keep these fighting words before ye
Welshmen never yield
