Ok, so I just have to say it... At the expense of sounding like a complete dork, I've made my first pre-order ever!! When I saw that the Halberstadt D.II was the next planned aircraft, I just had to pull some money from my 13th Gate fund and get it. I can't begin to express how happy I am that 777 has decided to release a somewhat early-war scout, and I couldn't pass up the opportunity to grab such an important aircraft, no matter how small of a bit part it played, especially since MvR decided to fly one until the Albatros D.III came back from the factory due to structural issues (or maybe it was the Dr.I?). Anyway, I'm extremely excited for the Halberstadt!!

On a lesser note, I also bought my first field mod. I got the one for the SE5a, though I do kinda believe the Aldis scope should have come standard with the game... But that's a different rant for a different time. Thank you 777 Studios!!

:-) Exciting times. And may I add that a number of flightsim developers are pulling out great things, development tracks, mods, upgrades, to better their product and keep the community alive and fulfilled. I also find the niche market becoming a bit less niche and offering possibilities for parties to get involved. I think we are currently at a serious high with all the flightsims and related products available.

Hhmm, I am derailing. Sorry Jetguy06. biggrin
Have you checked all the excellent mods that are possible on RoF aircraft?

I have. I forgot to mention that I also bought the weapons mod for the Albatros D.III. I can't wait to try that over-wing Lewis in my Jasta 11 career, provided I actually get the D.III sometime soon. winkngrin

Just remember, it points a few degrees up, so don't fire it with the two nose guns. Great for taking down Re-8's, though.

I am also elated about the inclusion of early war aircraft. Did you pre-order the LFG Roland C.II as well? That plane was flying in late 1915 and served through much of 1916 and early 1917.

These are good times for early war fans such as us!

Actually, the Roland CII was issued to German squadrons in the Spring of 1916. 1915 was more of Taube and Aviatik time for the Imperial German Air Force.
I don't have all of the German airplanes because I never fly for that side. But I'm glad to see we're getting some interesting airplanes to shoot at. (Or be shot down by, in my case.).

Noted on the upward-firing Lewis. I'm subscribed to Requiem's channel on Youtube, and I've seen his tutorial on attacking two-seaters. My only problem is configuring a button to just fire overwing guns. I have a Logitech Extreme 3d Pro, so if anyone else has the same joystick, I'd be more than grateful for any feedback on button-mapping.

As for the Roland, no, I haven't pre-ordered it yet, only because two-seaters aren't exactly my forte. I do have an active RE8 career, but that's just for fun and more so to see if I can survive the fighter attacks. If the Aviatik or Taube come out, (or the 1 1/2 Strutter, Be2c, or Fe2b, all of which I've been screaming for) I'll be more excited that I have realistic early-war Spandau fodder for my E.III and Albatros D.II than anything. I love the whole war (not to say I love war, but as in for this game) but the early part still needs to be majorly fleshed out. I have 97 kills in my Jasta 11 career as of February 1917, and I started at the earliest possible date, and I didn't shoot down a two-seater until maybe October 1916, and that was an Re8. My kill list should be chock-full of Be2's and Fe2's by now. I've got mostly Nieuport 17's DH2's, along with about 7 or 8 RE8's, and a single Nieuport 11 (my first kill in that career). Yeah, the early war really need more life to it.

But, the ranting aside, I think this is a step in the right direction. Now bring on the Morane Bullets, Bristol Scouts, and Gunbuses!!! boing
