So, This is a new one for me.

My FSX install has stopped working out of nowhere.

On my last flight, using the A2A B337, I was coming into a final at Myrtle beach. Out of nowhere I lost camera pan control (which is provided via EZCA) and the simulation just crashed to desktop. No error message, no freezing first, it just exited the sim and dropped me at the desktop.

Now, whenever I go to start a flight, It gets to 3% at the loading screen ('Loading Scenery Objects'), and just drops to the desktop. Again, no freezing, no fatal error messages, it just drops the program.


Steps taken so far:


-I've tried blanking the .cfg (ie removing all FSX.cfg, .baks, etc) and letting FSX write a new one. Interestingly, when I do that, It loads all the way to a flight (using stock default flight, as always) and then crashes immediately after starting the flight session.

-I've disabled all current Video card overrides in Catalyst control center, all graphic settings are now directly controlled by FSX. I was running drivers 12.10 before and after this happened, and upgraded to latest today, to see if that would help (it didn't').



I have been using the following global mods:
-Accufeel
-Tacpack-disabled it's automatic object cache/didn't fix issue
-REX-will restore original FSX textures
-EZdoc (removed as part of testing once this issue started)
-FSrecorder(Also removed)
-ENB
-Probably forgetting a few tweaks here and there, but again, FSX was running fine before this

Thoughts on where to start/continue trouble shooting this?

Check the windows eventlog, usually when FSX crashes it will provide an event with details of what module caused it, then you can look on AVSIM's CTD forum for specific help:

If you've been an FSX user that uses payware this is probably not the first time and it looks like you are following good troubleshooting by removing the tweaks and add-ons, one recent thing I noticed caused problems with FSX for me was a FSX .dll addon combined with Nvidia Surround mode... it worked fine in single monitor mode but in triple monitor it would crash FSX, so if you are using triple monitor you might try switching single monitor and see if it still does it.

Interesting....i get to 100% and CTD now also. Just started doing this yesterday.

Tried everything plus using the Accel repair option and no joy.

you didn't happen to download/install that new C-5 over at Simviation did you? That was my last mod (removed it as well once trouble started) and no joy.

Are you a TacPack Beta tester/user? Because they have a new version out, and the previous version was set to expire on Oct 31, making FSX unflyable. That is what happened to me.

EDIT -- I saw you disabled a feature in TacPack. Disable it altogether and see if that fixes it. I think it will. Then go get the new version from VRS.

Yeah it could be the TacPack. I'm getting Bglmanx errors and TacPack.dll errors. I was able to get it flyable but only with default aircraft. I'll have to download new version.

That's actually really annoying if so. I damn near uninstalled FSX looking for the issue.

Update: Yup, it was tacpack.

Glad you guys posted the solution, pretty ridiculous that TacPack could knock out FSX like this without any info, I am not a happy customer, could have wasted a ton of time troubleshooting crap that was unrelated.

I will be uninstalling the beta until they have a final version, ridiculous.
