Absolutely true, and the reason they're afraid to make eye contact with cats is it usually leads to paw/nose contact LOL. Just like they learn very quickly that when the kitty wags its tail it's not looking to play LOL.

They fall into two general groups.....1/ typical dog group....no eye contact with cat ...and 2/ stand back about 10M and stare at cat .."I DARE you to run...'cuz then you're gonna die" group

If you'll pardon the British colloquialism, this is indeed the "dogs bollocks". A funny, poignant, moving tribute to our four legged, genital cleanliness fixated, furry friends. Made me a wee bit sad at the end too. Reminded me of 'Trixie', me auld faithful Jack Russel, bless her wee paws. Awwww. They are such stuff as dreams are made on, and their little furry lives, are rounded with a sleep. 'So it goes'. Perhaps the 'Eternal Kennel Lord in the Sky' *TM* has prepared a place for them; Elysian, Idyllic fields where they may randomly bark at and p*ss upon all manner of things for no apparent reason ; chomping upon neverending DentiStix till their hearts are content. For is it not written in some book or other that there are "Many Kennels in his Fathers House"?. Or something. *shrugs*. "Whatever".

Our ACD definitely falls into the second group, except she does not stand back and stare at a cat. She takes off after it the very second she spots it. Eventually she will get the cat that keeps defecating in our backyard. Fortunately for the cat it does it near the fence. Seems the cat is a fast learner about doing it the middle of the yard after almost losing it's tail.
Come on now, we all know that real aircraft have tailhooks.

On my wife's truck we had a sticker that said "My Australian Cattle Dog is smarter than your honor student". This our second one. She rocks! Our mailman has told us that he can sneak up on every other house with a dog in our neighborhood without the dog barking except ours. I swear she can hear a gnat fart down the street.
