Hi,

I remember BMS when I was playing FreeFalcon 3.1 in the past which was comming with a patch "BMS 2.0". Are the newer BMS series in some way related to that?

Is there the possibility in BMS to switch to "Easy" Avionics like in F4AF?
Are there any Naval Ops possible (taking off, landing on a CV) ?

I find up to now F4AF the best for me, especially the campaign part which can be fully controlled with adding squadrons, setting special flights etc. The only thing I'm lamenting is: you cannot add any other cockpits for non-F16 planes, although you can fly them. Or yes ??

Thanks a lot for feedbacks!

Hello XenonS. My only experience with Falcon is AF and BMS, so I can't comment on the history of BMS. Might be better to ask that on the official BMS forums.

As to Avionics, there doesn't seem to be a way to switch to any other option as the drop-down menu only has Realistic. Other things like refueling or missile effects can be made easier but not avionics. As for naval ops, there is lots of work on the F-18 which is rumored to be coming with the next version/patch of BMS... again best place is on the BMS forums as there is a big thread about the Hornet there.

As for other aircraft, BMS supports the M 2000 and I've seen threads regarding F-14D cockpits plus the F-18, so I am guessing other cockpits are possible.

Hi Ice,
thanks for your comments. I will give BMS a shot at, just too curious.

My cockpit question were related to F4AF: Up to now, I can manage to fly any plane in AF, though with the F16 cockpit only. I have a lot of 2D cockpits mainly comming from past versions of FreeFalcon (F14, F15, F18, even B52, F117, B1) and I wonder if there's a way to make tricky file substitutions in order to use them in F4AF (2D, with the stock F16 as 3D).
Web searches have only pointed me to the Aeyes's F16 cockpits for AF, which tells me that this must be possible in some way.
What do you think?

Cheers,
XenonS

I think in this department you have more experience than I have. I've not even bothered with the Aeyes cockpits for AF when I was playing it IIRC.

For possible cockpits in F4AF, I found an arrow in the PMC forums. Complicated as I expected, but that's for me. Will give it a try.

BMS cockpits are all 3D, so you need a LOD to fly the cockpit of that particular aircraft. As Ice mentioned, the F-16 and M2000D are fully implemented, though there are still partially implemented 3D cockpits for the F-15C, F/A-18C, and A-10. The "fly any plane" feature still works with a viper cockpit as it does in AF.

The average naval aviator, despite the sometimes swaggering exterior, is very much capable of such feelings as love, affection, intimacy, and caring. These feelings just don't involve anyone else.

much thanks for these insights.

Do you mean "...still works in BMS with a viper cockpit" ? what is a viper cockpit ?

I've done some remarquable progress for setting up 3rd party cockpits in AF. No, I didn't fully succeed yet but I'm very close as I am able now to decypher the bcockpit.dat code with a converter and figure out unknown variables for the buffers...Currently I've reverted back to version 1.01 and doing some testings.

If this works, the result would be as good as FF6, with slightly inferior grafics but a much more advanced campaign and...stability.

My other problem is AF getting old and not suit anymore my widescreen 24' monitor, and that's bad. As good as BMS may be, there are far too many versions of F4 outta here to my taste, so I decide not changing a running machine any more, until it keeps running of course...

Does anyone fly with the Aeyes Widescreen F16 cockpit in 1920x1080 >>*WITHOUT*<< black borders on the left/right side ?
Does - per miracle - someone fly with the stock cockpit wijtout any black borders in 16:9 ?
Thanks very much to let me know !!

cheee,
XenonS

Yes. Viper=F-16.

For your other questions, just understand that in BMS there is no longer any such thing as a 2D cockpit. Everything is fully clickable 3D, though the cockpit is so nice that it is understandable that you wouldn't necessarily see that from screenshots.
