Some good times in DCS World multiplayer today with an ultra simple mission I cooked up: has some of every type of flyable aircraft in 1.2.1 spread around along with a handful of tankers.

I don't think I'll ever get used to "just" taxiing to the runway. The visuals are great, the restrained whine of the engines just begging to be let loose...and then there's always that little rush as I pull up to the threshold, awaiting permission to takeoff! So cool!

A fellow simmer (Brandon) gets up close and personal to a KC-135 looking to top off his nearly tanks, but can't raise the Tanker on the radio. 20 minutes of troubleshooting later (right freq? right callsign? radio on? mic switch forward?), and he has to dive for his divert field (Kobuleti), landing with one engine flamed out. We never did figure out why he couldn't raise the Tanker. I was able to contact him and refuel using the same radio settings, but then I was also hosting the mission: has anyone else had a problem with tanking in MP?

Took a long hop from Mineralnye Vody to Kobuleti and really enjoyed the scenery along the way.

LiquidIce gives us a private airshow in his Su25T, complete with streaming smoke and an ultra-low flyby. Nice stuff!

Here Liquid had taken some tail damage after showing off his landing skills on a bridge. Somehow, during takeoff, his helo got bounced about and suffered severe damage to the tail end, including a hydraulics failure. Somehow he managed to make it back to base in one piece.

Put fighter pilots together and the dogfight challenges will fly. Here John Giese has saddled up nicely on a not-so-friendly A-10C (consensual dogfight rules!). With a few well-placed bursts, the A-10C is reduced to a flaming, smoking mess. Lots of fun to watch!

That begs the qeustion- what would happen if a P-51 and an A-10 got into a dogfight? I know the P-51 would out manuever the A-10, which I guess would give it the advantage. Though would an AIM-9X track a prop plane? And that A-10 armour is pretty damn thick. Then again, the P-51 could saddle up on the A-10's 6 o'clock and use rockets.

Thoughts?

You think an aim9 couldn't track the heat of that Packard engine? and I'm also pretty sure that if the A10 kept its speed it can outdistance the P51 and come back for a gunrun. I'm pretty sure that the Mustang doesn't take those milkbottle size rounds very well.

I'm a crappy pilot, but one hell of a shot.

According to Google the A-10 top speed is 706kph, and the P-51 703kph.

My bet is that it is up to the pilot, and the AIM-9 would track the propeller at the very least, the -9X I think would have no difficulty in acquiring, nor would ASRAAM or Iris-T.
I know the Stinger has no difficulty in acquiring a Cessna 172 thumbsup
