Considering it only flew the last year of the war, I'd say "whatever early war planes still left flying"! This thing wasn't a DVII with floats, after all. Compared to the DFW it weighed about the same (actually slightly more) but had only 160hp instead of 200...and the DFW entered service a full year earlier! Personally, I'd try and keep it away from ANY single seater except maybe a DH2. Against the HP400 it would probably be ok! For 2 seaters, the RE8 would be ok, but I think the DH4 would outclass it. F2B and B2 would DEFINITELY outclass it. As the site says "The W.12 was mostly used for sea patrols - hunting submarines, convoys and enemy seaplanes." Something tells me it was never used for the mission you're proposing because it wouldn't have done too well... The Jedi Master

What would you consider good match up planes against the Brandy for dogfighting?
I am working on a mission on the island map with factories defended by the Brandy's.
Entente forces will send various heavy bombers and two seaters, but if I was going to include some escorts in the plane sets, which planes offer a fair fight?
Ideally it would be historically correct regarding the era as well.
W12 will have a hard time against anything but 1916 Allied scouts like the DH2 or N11. Allied two seaters don't need escort against the manatee.

Thought you guys might like to see the final mission brief Used the Brandy's to balance out the action, but not as the primary players. Game sure looks pretty with the piers and ships in the foreground ( used a trick I learned from the Old Fokkers, putting flame pots up in the factory stacks to get the smoke effect.) Yes, that makes the most sense using them as support.

The smoke looks great, it should be standard.

after all the chatter about the Brandy, never posted how it went. Proved to be a strong adversary for the RE8's The mission required multiple bombing runs and the RE8's could not get away from the Brandy's... they also proved to be a very stable gun platform that could take a lot of punishment. I think I shot down about four of the RE8's during the mission, generally in pursuit after they left the bombing target. the following pics show a slightly different situation. I thought the RE8 was going away from me, not towards me and we did a very ugly full head on crash. Sandy sheared my fricken top wing off completely and I landed in a very nice heap of parts. Yikes!!

I hope Jason has another scout float-plane for the other side in the works, by the way does the W12 carry any bombs?
