Please, can someone advise this noob if the twin MFDs by Thrustmaster are recognized by the BMS 4.32 releazse to Falcon 4.0 ? So I can physically click on the MFDs wired into my computer to activate the corresponding button on the screen's F-16's 2 MFDs? Am considering buying the program and then updating it. Thanks ever so much... :-)

Yes. The two MFDs buttons can be set up to any Falcon key commands through the Falcon control setup. Please note that there are no actual screens included, only picture inserts. Well worth it to me anyway.

Thanks for the reply... Seems as if the F4:AF only recogizes 1... prompting the question. Again Pilgrim, thank you. Worth it to me as well. :-)

I have no issues with both MFDs functioning correctly with F4AF.

Both should work correctly in AF and BMS, with no special setup needed. And if you have a second monitor, you can overlay your MFDs there and get a proper "screen" behind the MFDs!

Make sure the USB ports you're using are both working. They both work fine for every version for me (AF, BMS, FF...)

Hi and thanks everyone for their replies. In F4:AF, I see both listed, but #1 does some work, none of which I had programmed it to do. The other is present, but not engaged. I was hoping that both programs would do exactly what is pictured on the screen for those F16 MFDs. Could very well be I haven't learned how to assign the units yet within the program... hoping for plug 'n' play, a la the
DCS A-10.

To Ice, I am running 2 monitors- great suggestion, I am a little short on the know-how. Currently they are in extended desktop mode... Question : in FSX the windows can be clicked and dragged to a different monitor - does either AF or BMS offer that?

To Panther, thank you... "I have no issues with both MFDs functioning correctly with F4AF."
May I ask how you achieved that please?

To Pilgrim, I am running both MFDs off a 7-port powered USB unit... great thought though. Thanks !!

Again, thank you all for taking the time to respond. It is very much appreciated.

You may need to consider the idea that one or both MFDs are busted? One of my MFDs started acting up and after a short test period, was confirmed faulty and was replaced by TM -- and all I had to do was send them pics of the faulty MFD with the USB wires cut.

Does the MFDs work correctly in other sims? It was plug-and-play for DCS A10C and it is the same for Falcon BMS. I never had MFDs when I was playing F4AF so can't comment on that.

BMS allows you to extract the MFDs and display them on any screen -- you just need to provide the MFD size and coordinates for where the upper-left corner of the MFD will appear. I can't recall how DCS did this, but I know it is possible.

I'd also try switching the USB ports that you have the two MFDs plugged in to to make sure. In case you haven't guessed, I've run into this in the past smile

And to the "blow into the USB and USB port"... that always seems to work biggrin No, I'm just joking...

I mapped them by assigning key commands to each button on the MFD in F4AF (in the settings in F4AF). It isn't plug and play in F4AF but they are plug and play in DCS A-10C.

Good news, but first thanks to Ice, Pilgrim and Panther. The news is in F4:AF, one clicks on key commands and then input what they want the controller to duplicate for the keyboard command. It does recoginize the MFDs and allows the physical OSB keys to mirror and activate their onscreen equivalents. Fortunately, both MFDs are working. I was clicking on the F4:AF controller tab, no joy. Still getting Falcom 4.0 and then the BMS update... be fun to see what I should unlearn as another poster had put it.

Thanks for the info :-) - it was timely and helpful !!

Congrats on getting it working. Note that you only need the Falcon 4 CD because BMS will look for the .exe before installing itself -- so no need to install Falcon 4. Just have the CD in the drive and point BMS to it and BMS will do its thing.

Go ahead and learn the concepts of A-A or A-G attacks in F4AF. The theory for these things are applicable in BMS as well. It's just the way of going about your business of killing AI-controlled machines that is different in AF vs BMS.

However, I'd still say wait until you can get BMS. The hassle of clicking between 2D pit to flick switches and 3D pit for looking around with TrackIR may make your flying hours quite tedious and spoil the experience of flying Falcon.

Thanks Ice... just ordered Falcon 4.0 today 10/7 and will patch the BMS file first before I then patch that file to the 4.0 program when I receive it.

All the BEST

Note that you do not need to patch Falcon 4 ---- BMS simply checks for the .exe so Falcon 4 doesn't even have to be installed! Just point the BMS installer to your CD drive when it asks about the .exe and it'll install BMS.
