The last thing I had to finish from the original build was an "MFD" style unit that replicates the num pad functions in the game or the 'targeting" option in the game.
From the original MDF pieces, holes are cut for the push button switches. Its painted white inside to help create an even lighting.
The unit mounts to the front main panel with 2 screws, the holes in the center are for the LEDs
The laser printed overlay. Same as the other panels
Glued and trimmed around the cut outs. This step is tricky and prone to failure as misalignment shows up pretty badly.
I used a fine file and fine sand paper to finish the corners. You can see white areas where it didn't quite line up.
Use some of the matching black to cover up the areas that showed the white, turns out OK now.
Switches fitted.
The insert is another of the printed sheets I drew and the back is masked with another sheet but with areas cut out around the wording.
There is a piece of thin clear plastic film (copy shop type) sandwiched on top. When you light it from behind only the words glow......poor mans MFD.
LEDS, pretty basic but does the job.
Just needs wiring and fitting and that's it.
