I have certainly altered my tactics after getting my a$$ handed to me the first few days.

Most of us were the same way, I'm glad you stuck with it and didn't just give up and complain.

I quickly found out my gung-ho and cheeze tactics that worked in previous Mechwarrior games get you killed, and that teamwork and tactics and planning is required which I find more rewarding.

That isn't to say that I don't at times still lose my composure and bum-rush some Cat that is gauss-sniping me and making me mad, but usually I try to use my brain more.

I would trawl through the Steal Beasts and Battlefield forums for tactics..they are just big tanky things with legs smile

For some reason the Beta TS3 server is not letting me create a subgroup... so I am on but not in TS3 right now.

Just tested it, works ok.

You have to actually switch into the Mercenaries channel, and then you can create the group.

See you guys in a bit.

Another good night tonight. Me, Kludg, Mojo, Sartori and Grim. Got rolled a few times, but also had a few good matches.

Tried to join, but it kept failing. Kind of late anyway, hope to catch up this weekend. This thing is ADDICTIVE!
Tweaked my Awesome just right I think, getting my play style down better. Got 3--almost 4--kills one round when we were down by 2 players. Very proud of a successful flanking thanks to the team keeping them occupied and wearing them down so I could cap them quickly from behind. Love a win after smack talking foes. LOL
I hope someone's working on an app for a weapons spreadsheet and build comparison. I'm alt-tabbing over to an IGN page to help with my builds, but that gets a bit old.

Good games tonight everyone. I'll be on tomorrow, but it won't be until late.

It's a shame you weren't able to join us RK. Hopefully tomorrow.

Fun times again everyone, thanks for the matches.

I really enjoyed the one when we pulled out a win when we were down. Nice teamwork on that one everyone.

Raw Kryptonite, get TS sorted out so you can connect that way we can know when you are trying to join the group.

Also, for weapon stats, there is a thread with some downloads in it, beta forums, beta guides, general, 'ohms quick reference sheets...'.

There is also a build program in that forum: 'Introducing the MWO stat lab program'.

Cheers!

Yeah fun games again tonight, that comeback win was great as it was the result of good teamwork and roles, also learned a few more things to do and not to do when capping or preventing cap :P

Here's that great beta forum posting that Mojo is referring to that I've bookmarked for weapon and hardpoint info (beta link so only people in the beta can retrieve it):

Good going RK, hope you can join us sometime, will be on some over the weekend too but will be working tomorrow night.

I seem to be playing a different game as I see no teamwork or how there can even be any. Everyone just goes off as fast as the can and then runs into each other firing at point blank or I just get spammed with LRMs over and over until I die. I can't see how this isn't COD in mechs and am disappointed.

Yeah if you are on a random drop with strangers and no one communicates with text then indeed the most you can hope for is that people will stick together but often you just have a bunch of people doing their own thing or running off to their death.

Personally when I play PUGs I try to communicate with the team on what I am doing and that tends to get others to at least stick together in that area and fight together and often we actually do well, most PUGs unless they are brand new or scouts will follow simple instructions or suggestions.

Even better if you can join a "Premade" group on TS3 then you do get the communication and teamplay which is what we SimHQers have been doing last couple of nights and referring to above.

I jumped on the server for a few minutes and chatted with someone about HOTAS's and joysticks, but had to leave before I could get in a game with you guys. Hopefully next time!

I really don't understand this type of comment.

How can PGI force players to use tactics? Have big red flashing text that says "Not that way dumbass, you're gonna die" or "Take cover idiot!"?

Or they could implement an autopilot that will do everything for them and you can just kick back and watch the action.. kinda like having computer v computer battles in chess.

If you can't see tactics then you're playing with the wrong people. NOTE: PEOPLE. You can lead a horse to water...

What PGI needs to implement is improve matchmaking (being done) so that premades meet with premades so that tactics can be employed alot more.

Not to be a wet blanket, but there's an awful lot of NDA breaking in this thread.

Aladar, agreed.

Let's be careful here guys, and keep gameplay comments out of this discussion.

We just have to wait for the open beta to discuss it here, until then stick to the official forums for anything more than 'good match last night'

I agree as well, for us Founders it's ok to mention we are playing the beta without voiding the NDA, but it is almost impossible to discuss gameplay without stepping over the line, no matter how accidentally especially when trying to help people past their initial gameplay experience.

So for now we can just keep it to "Good Game" or coordination for those of us in the beta to play together.

Downloaded TS, but have no idea what I'm doing with it. I had it up the other night, and it had a small overlay up, but it interfered and I had to shut it down. If someone figures out TS or another method of using voice, please post what you do. This has nothing to do with the game of course.
