Yes, and it detonates approximately 1m above your head, killing the crew instantly (by spraying them with hot Tungsten fragments)...

... on the positive side:

- Your 23mm bullets are flying above Mach3, right from the end of your barrel, no acceleration phase.
- Your 23mm bullets are reaching maximum range within 5.5sec.
- Your 23mm bullets can kill targets, while your radar is switched off.
- You have 2000 bullets, and that is enough for a more than 30s sustained fire (4 tubes parallel).
- OFZT bullets are deadly, even one hit can be catastrophic.

Maximum range and altitude of the bullets are ~5km.
Effective range is 2,5km, altitude is 2km.
(over it the ammo dispersion is getting too big)

Maximum displayed range of the radar is 20km.

23x151B OFZT (inert - training) ammunition, with 1l of Coca Cola, and a matchbox.

If you put the Shilka in your sim, will you be doing a radar only simulation, I guess we can pretend it's nighttime, or will there be optical engagements too?

Shilka has 6 operation modes, and the sim will simulate two of them (mode 1, and 3)

1. Aerial target tracking with RPK in three coordinates
2. Aerial or ground target tracking with optics, and RPK is measuring range only
3. Memory mode. (tracking target with last known parameters)
4. Aerial target tracking with optics only
5. Ground target tracking with optics only
6. Emergency mode (full manual target tracking )

Instead of Ashuluk, you will have Dregelypalank.

So.... I see that system in iran air deffense but all of them is disable.... i dont know why!
iran Air defense usualy using from "sky guard" and some "static ZSU atoumatic" with( 2 long barrel)

Of course in iran and iraq war .... Iraqian shilka created a big hell for iranian f-4 phantoms and f-5 tigers 50cal

The OFZT (HEI-T, High Explosive Incendiary Tracer) interior is quite complex...

...compared to the BZT (API-T, Armor Piercing Incendiary Tracer).

After each three OFZT ammunitions, one BZT is loaded into the ammo belt.

While NATO is routinely facing SAM's, they still choose to avoid AAA's, with a good reason...

I hope release during the end of this year, but no promises...

Please note, that pilot guided plane maximum speeds...
Mach1 at 0m
Mach2 at ~10km
Mach3 at ~20km

Shilka could engage Mach1.5 targets.

Hmm... Could you give us a basic "Theory of Operation" overview? Tell us about the different modes that the radar can operate in, like the search modes, the target track modes, etc. Is the angle officer's scope for acquisition and lock up in beta and epsilon, and the range officer's for delta?

Hmm, well...I believe we're talking about a literal few seconds of reaction time here, before being torn apart by bomblets/rockets/GAU-8s/Hellfires/Mavericks/whatever if we're the target, and even if we aren't -- clickfest, anyone?

Better get prepared.

I'm still learning it (from an ex Shilka teacher, and the exCommander of Dregelypalank firing range), and reading manuals...
... but basically it is very close to KRUG.

Angle officer is locking it in Epsilon/Beta.

Range officer lock the target in range...

Than the Mechanical Calculator will calculate impact point, and when the "Est Dannie" ("Have Data") lamp illuminates, the Commander or the Angle officer fires a burst.
Burst length is depending on the target type.
