I won't be surprised if they add this class in some addon:) The game style is a really cool mixture of fantasy and steampunk with pistols, rifles, granades and gun turrets so a commando type would fit just fine:)

Some pics form a new area I visited today.

I only played for an hour, but I like it.

It;s quick, has depth but easy to get into, no monthly fee, and just seems to be fun.

Was £50 for digital download which I wasn't going to pay so went out to an actual shop and got it for £39, installing now.

It certainly is:) Yesterday I explored 100 % of my first big area (The Wayfarer Foothills) It took me sth like 12-15 h of play and that is just 6 % of the whole Tyria world. Like I said the game is huge but more importantly there is always sth fun to do.

Anyone else getting this "the game client is unable to gain access to the log-in server at this time" when trying to log in?

There are multiple servers and you only get to pick one. If you want to switch you have to pony up real money to switch over (which is BS IMHO) You should be able to have characters on all of the servers.

By the way, switching servers is free for a while, so picking a server is not critical yet. Afterwards, the fact that you'll have to pay is indeed something that annoys me BUT luckily you can still temporarily join another server with your character if a friend invites you there - and that's free. I don't know if it's already available, I haven't tested it but I did read it from an official statement. There are some limitations with the progress you do as a guest on another server (and what you can loot, buy, sell etc I imagine), but at least it means I'll be able to join my French friends for free from time to time while I remain on one of the unofficial aussie servers the rest of the time (I'm on the Isle of Janthir).

Has anyone here tried the Ascalon Catacombs dungeon? IMHO it is insanely hard. During the story mode our team died like 10-15 times. I took us almost 2h to finish it. Today we tried an exploration mode. After almost an hour of countless deaths we gave up. All of us were couple of levels above required. For the time being I'am done with them. Will try to get back there with gear from much higher levels.

I've been to the doorway but I don't think I'm high enough level yet as I've settled with a Norn warrior and that suits my playstyle best, got him to lvl 25.

Second character is a Sylvari ranger and then a Human thief but concentrating on the Norn for now, love the snowy wastes they inhabit.

Definitely the best MMO I have played. I wasn't too keen on GW1 with all the instances but now GW2 is just like a pay monthly MMO (in non-instanced coop gameplay ONLY) it is fantastic. All the other pay monthly MMO's were boring, all the same and I never went past the free 30 days but I have had way more than my monies worth from this already.

It's an excellent game, my main gripe however is the lack of 'carrot' so to speak. Wanting to progress is a bit gone for me, compared to other MMOs where you get mounts, crazy skills, proper end-game content, unlock the ability to use a different gear proficiency or stuff like that. Here, there's basically nothing - My only carrot is cultural Tier 3 armour for the Norn which looks way too badass, but that's kinda shot down with the 20g a piece price, which is insane.

I know the game is built around a level 1 basically doing what you do at level 80 but I just feel that's an empty gameplay design for an MMO with 80 levels. But hey, that's probably just me...

Any way, I love the water in the game, looks great.

Hi all,

Guild Wars 2 is a very addictive game. There is so much depth and playability in it. If one has never played it, there is a slight learning curve but it is very playable while learning. And there are many different Character professions to play as, and each one has its own strengths and weaknesses. Guild Wars 2 is meant to be played with other players. As you move around any area of the huge map you will see other players engaged in fights or battles, so join in the fight. And even if you are only able to get one shot off before the fight or battle ends you get credit right along with the other players. And if you die, someone will resurrect you. And if other players die you will want to resurrect them, because there are benefits for you as you help others. There are epic battles and events happening where ever you travel on the map. You will hear Non-player characters talking to you as you past by, giving you details to battles and events in the area. And when you travel to any of the large cities you will hear conversations taking place. Some are quiet comical. In addition, any unique place you visit, or any of the challenging Vistas you discover how to reach, or any of the many plants or variety of trees you collect or skills you acquire, all contribute to advancing you to a higher level in the game. So almost everything you do has a purpose. This is a game you can play and learn at your own speed so take your time and enjoy the experience. This is a very immersive game. As a new game, it is continually being updated and tweaked by Arenanet to enhance the game play and players enjoyment. Enjoy the screen shots.

I've been playing since Head Start and my biggest problem with the game was picking a profession to stick with. I kept trying different race / profession combinations because they all looked so damn cool. And they are all extremely fun too.

I'll pretty much echo what I have already seen posted here. The game is great and is so for many reasons, not least of which is not having a subscription fee. So if I decide not to play for a couple of months, I'm not out $30. I can log in and pick up wherever I left off whenever I want to. There is tons to do between WvW pvp, crafting, events, hearts, weapons skill unlocks, skill challenges, platform like jumping puzzles to see vistas, points of interest, map completions, etc. And ALL of it helps level your character, so that even when you are busy crafting away at something like Cooking or Leatherworking stations, it's still helping to progress the main level of your character. Nothing is a waste of time.

Plus, it doesn't have a damn exponential XP curve to level your character. In other words, it doesn't take an hour to get from level 1 to level 2 but 12 hours to get from level 79 to 80. The level progress never makes you feel bogged down. A very refreshing change indeed.

If you are at all into fantasy world RPGs, even if you typically hate MMOs, you might want to give Guild Wars 2 a try. I haven't talked to anyone yet who regretted purchasing it. Most folks seem to be rating it about a 9/10.

Here's a quick video I made of my Mesmer chick kicking a few various bandit asses. Mesmers make clones of themselves in combat that do various diffferent things like shoot twin pistols or hack up bad guys with swords, etc. It keeps the enemy confused and makes it harder for them to concentrate on the real you. You'll notice in some battles there is a lot more running around than there is during a normal MMO soloing experience.

And this is a level 15 open world Boss event that I stumbled across with my little level 11 Necromancer...who promptly got his ass kicked. But fortunately others brought me back to life so I could hop back into the fight again.

I'm having a good time with GW2. Mostly playing as my ranger right now, when I have time (rFactor league taking priority until the title is decided). Using him as an FB cover photo as well. biggrin

I'm liking the fact that I can pretty much just do what I feel like doing, and I'm not being heavily penalized for it.

I can count on one hand the number of mmo's that I've truly enjoyed: Asheron's Call (the first one I ever played), Motor City Online, and the first Guild Wars (started with the public alpha during E3 2004). So far this game looks like it's going to make this list.
